Employment Specialist
Description

The Employment Specialist will work with all eligible Camillus House clients in the North Dade area. The Employment Specialist is responsible for matching job applicants (clients) to a specific job that suits their skills, talents and interests; as well as provide guidance on education and training options. They are responsible for ensuring that the candidate (client) has the right skills for the job, understands the process of applying for a job (resume, etc.), is prepared for the job interview and understands what is necessary to remain employed.

Qualifications Required: 

• Ability to understand and practice the mission of Camillus House.

• Education: BA degree in business, social work or psychology preferred, but any combination of academic training and experience may be considered, in particular in employment placement/training programs.

• Language: Proficiency in oral/written English

• Skills: Proficiency in computer (Word, Excel, other data collecting programs).

• Successful completion of Toxicology test and of Criminal Background Check.

• Successful completion of Level II screening.

• Valid FL Driver License with clean driving record.



Qualifications Preferred: 

• Culturally sensitive to the social, psychological and healthcare needs of the vulnerable populations served.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

• Demonstrates a high level of productivity while remaining calm and effective under pressure.

• A self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as, with multidisciplinary teams and co-workers.

• Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.

• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred; additional languages a plus (i.e. Creole).


Requirements

Responsibilities: 

  • Accept referrals for employment services and provide job placement, career development, and employment retention support to clients.
  • Complete the Camillus House Employment Assessment for referred and walk-in clients to identify employment history, skills, interests, barriers, and career goals.
  • Work with clients to identify employment and career goals based on their skills, interests, experience, and individual circumstances.
  • Work closely with Case Managers and other Workforce Development team members to develop individualized employment Case Goals and address barriers that may impact employment, placement, and retention.
  • Identify appropriate employment opportunities and match clients with job openings based on their qualifications, interests, career goals, and position requirements.
  • Assist clients with job searches, applications, resumes, cover letters, and other employment-related materials.
  • Prepare clients for employment interviews, including providing interview coaching and conducting mock interviews.
  • Coordinate job interviews and assist clients in addressing transportation or other logistical barriers to employment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers to identify employment opportunities for Camillus House clients, recruit new employer partners, and strengthen existing partnerships.
  • Conduct employer visits and obtain feedback regarding employee performance, workplace needs, and opportunities for continued partnership.
  • Follow up with employers and newly placed clients at established intervals to assess placements, address concerns, and support job retention.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, Case Managers, supervisors, and employers to address issues that may affect employment placement or retention.
  • Monitor employment outcomes, including job placements and retention.
  • Provide referrals and engage clients in education, workforce training, certification, and job readiness programs when additional skills or credentials may support their employment goals.
  • Conduct employment workshops and provide individual or group instruction on job search strategies, resume development, interviewing, workplace expectations, and job retention.
  • Assist with recruiting participants for Workforce Development programs, workshops, training opportunities, and other employment-related activities.
  • Assist in coordinating job fairs, education fairs, employer recruitment events, and other workforce development activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client and employer records in required databases and online platforms for case management, monitoring, and reporting purposes.
  • Document client contacts, employment activities, placements, follow-ups, and outcomes in accordance with program and funder requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: 

  • On site, Monday - Friday. 
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule. Shifts may vary (weekends and evenings as needed)
