The Powder Coat Painter II independently performs powder coating operations with little to no assistance while meeting established quality, productivity, and process requirements. Responsibilities include preparing paint guns and hoppers, determining and preparing required colors, inspecting part surfaces, applying powder coating to specification, setting curing oven timers, and evaluating finished coating through visual inspection, color checks, thickness measurements, and scratch testing. 

· Perform all required powder coat work-center tasks and follow the established sequence of operations with little to no assistance.

· Evaluate paint quality using scratch testing, coating thickness measurements, visual inspection, and other required testing techniques.

· Identify light, incomplete, or otherwise nonconforming paint coverage.

· Verify product quality against applicable product checklists.

· Identify, report, and correct powder coat quality issues.

· Follow all procedures, policies, and work instructions associated with powder coat operations.

· Determine required paint colors using fabrication plans, part tags, and cart identification tags.

· Load and prepare powder coat paint guns and hoppers for production.

· Prepare and mix coating materials as required for production.

· Inspect part surfaces to verify cleanliness before beginning the painting process.

· Set curing oven timers according to established process requirements.

· Perform assigned work-center tasks independently with little to no assistance.

· Complete work-center tasks within established production time requirements.

· Perform powder coating operations according to required specifications.

· Perform color checks using designated inspection equipment.

· Perform scratch testing on at least one panel or part per cart as required by the established process.

· Properly use and store tools required for work-center operations.

· Maintain the work center in accordance with established 5S requirements.

· Work safely around forklift and crane operations and follow designated aisles, work zones, and storage areas.

· Operate power/hand tools, measuring devices, and instruments used for assembly.

· Adhere to established work schedules, break periods, and company policies regarding phone use, smoking, music, and general workplace conduct.

· Use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, masks, safety shoes, and other work-center-specific PPE.

· Understand and follow quality standards and workmanship requirements for assigned tasks and responsibilities.

Requirements:

· Education: High School Diploma/GED required

· Experience: 1-3 years of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment in a painting/powder coat position required

· Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English

Skills:

· Proficiency in performing powder coat work-center operations with little to no assistance.

· Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions and established procedures.

· Basic ability to read fabrication plans and identify parts by model, unit, or job number.

· Ability to evaluate coating quality using visual inspection, scratch testing, coating thickness measurements, and color-check equipment.

· Ability to identify, report, and correct quality issues.

· Ability to interpret and apply product quality checklist requirements.

· Ability to safely use power tools/hand tools and properly store work-center tools.

· Ability to safely work around forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.

· Ability to learn and safely operate crane equipment after required training.

· Understanding of PPE, shop safety, and 5S requirements.

· Ability to lift and handle parts weighing up to 40 pounds and work with team members to handle larger parts.

· Ability to work effectively with others and receive direction from more experienced powder coat painters.

· Provide flexible support across all production areas as needed.
