PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is looking for dedicated and hard-working Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our STARS Program. STARS nurses provide nursing coverage at PrimeCare facilities where additional staffing support is needed. This is a full-time traveling position, with assignments based on operational needs and the nurse's designated home-jail/catchment area.

STARS nurses are to provide additional staffing support across Maryland and surrounding areas, as well as longer-term travel assignments outside of the region. Candidates should be motivated, adaptable, eager to learn, and comfortable working in different correctional healthcare environments.

Available Positions:

• 2 LPNs who are willing to travel to New Hampshire or Florida and commit to longer-term assignments of up to 3 months at a time.
• 2 LPNs based in the Chester, Cecil, or Kent County area who are willing to travel to Bucks and Northampton County, PA, with their home jail designated as Cecil County.
• 2 LPNs who can provide coverage throughout Maryland and portions of South Central Pennsylvania, as needed.
• Registered Nurses (RNs) may also be considered for the STARS Program based on operational needs and qualifications.

All STARS nurses will be home-jailed within PrimeCare's Maryland catchment area, and geographic location within the catchment area may vary based on operational needs.

Job Responsibilities:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will primarily be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care while ensuring the proper flow of relevant information is disseminated to appropriate personnel. STARS nurses must be comfortable adapting to different facilities, working with various nursing teams, and providing care in accordance with facility policies and established clinical protocols.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining accurate records of all controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
• Conducting sick calls for inmates/patients and providing treatment for illnesses and injuries, as defined by written protocol and approved by the PCM Medical Director.
• Observing, reporting, and documenting symptoms, reactions, and progress of inmates/patients and participating in the formulation of the plan of care.
• Recording, retrieving, and filing medical information in the inmate/patient medical record.
• Maintaining, updating, and working with electronic medical records while ensuring patient information remains secure.
• Providing nursing coverage at assigned PrimeCare facilities based on operational needs.
• Adapting to different facility environments, workflows, and nursing teams.
• Communicating effectively with facility leadership and nursing staff regarding patient care and operational needs.
• Participating in training and orientation at assigned facilities as needed.

Travel & Assignment Expectations:

STARS nurses should be comfortable traveling to different correctional healthcare facilities and adapting to varying assignment lengths. Certain positions may require extended travel assignments of up to 3 months, including assignments outside of Maryland.

For nurses assigned to regional coverage, travel may include facilities throughout Maryland and portions of South Central Pennsylvania, as well as Bucks and Northampton Counties depending on the designated STARS position.

Orientation & Training:

STARS nurses will receive an orientation period at their assigned facility. Nurses traveling to a new facility may also receive facility-specific training and orientation with the nursing staff upon arrival.

Additional Compensation:

In addition to the hourly pay rate, PrimeCare Medical also offers Overtime Pay, Shift Differential and Weekend Differential compensation, Premium Holiday Pay, and Employee Referral Bonus opportunities.

Please note that the pay range is not a sliding scale based on experience; it reflects the base pay as well as the differentials offered between shifts.

• Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of Maryland
• Active, unrestricted nursing license
• Willingness and ability to travel to assigned facilities
• Ability to commit to extended travel assignments when required for the position

• Demonstrate clinical competency

• Experience in correctional health care delivery system, a plus
