Work Location: Leesburg, VA — Hybrid (in-office expectations aligned with company hybrid policy)


Position Summary

The Customer Success Representative (CSR) Summer Intern supports Vertosoft’s Operations team with post-sale customer engagement, order processing, and administrative activities supporting government technology customers.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to customer success, sales operations, government technology procurement, and cross-functional business operations. The CSR Summer Intern will work under the guidance of experienced team members to help maintain accurate customer and order information, support order and renewal workflows, and contribute to a positive customer experience.


The role is designed for a college student or recent graduate interested in gaining practical experience in customer success, business operations, technology sales, or government contracting. The internship builds foundational skills that align with Vertosoft’s entry-level Customer Success Representative career path. The responsibilities are adapted from the CSR I role, which supports order processing, customer engagement, entitlement delivery, renewals, and collaboration across Sales, Operations, Finance, vendors, and government customers.


Core Responsibilities

Order Processing & Sales Coordination

· Assist with routine order processing activities under the guidance of Customer Success and Operations team members.

· Support the creation and validation of customer accounts and related information.

· Assist with comparing customer awards and purchase documentation against Vertosoft quotes.

· Review order information and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.

· Help prepare and organize order packets and related documentation for technology vendors.

· Support coordination between Sales, Operations, and Finance to help facilitate timely order fulfillment.

· Maintain organized electronic records related to customer orders and transactions.


Customer & Post-Sales Support

· Assist the Customer Success team in supporting government customers with new software purchases and renewals.

· Help track entitlement provisioning, license activation, and fulfillment activities.

· Assist with routine customer inquiries and route questions to the appropriate team member.

· Escalate customer, vendor, or order issues to assigned team members.

· Help maintain accurate customer, order, and entitlement information within internal systems.


Renewals & Internal Collaboration

· Assist with tracking upcoming customer renewals.

· Support account teams with renewal preparation and administrative activities.

· Help gather and organize information needed for renewal workflows.

· Assist with routing billing-related inquiries to the appropriate Finance or Customer Success team member.

· Follow established operational processes, procedures, and SOPs.

· Participate in team meetings and cross-functional coordination activities.

· Identify opportunities to improve documentation, organization, or routine operational processes.


Internship Projects & Learning

· Complete assigned projects that support Customer Success or Operations priorities.

· Develop familiarity with Vertosoft’s customer lifecycle, including quoting, ordering, fulfillment, entitlements, billing, and renewals.

· Gain exposure to the government technology acquisition process and Vertosoft’s role within the public sector technology ecosystem.

· Develop working knowledge of internal systems, workflows, and documentation standards.

· Participate in training, coaching, and professional development opportunities.

· Prepare or present a summary of internship projects, accomplishments, or lessons learned as requested.

· Does not independently manage customer accounts, complex orders, or high-risk transactions.

· Escalates exceptions, discrepancies, and complex questions to experienced team members.

· Handles customer, pricing, and contractual information in accordance with company confidentiality requirements.


Qualifications

Education

· Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Management, Marketing, Communications, Information Systems, or a related field.

· Rising juniors and seniors preferred.


Experience

· Prior professional experience is not required.

· Previous internship, customer service, administrative, campus leadership, retail, hospitality, or other business experience is a plus.

· Interest in customer success, business operations, technology sales, government contracting, or the public sector technology industry preferred.


Technical Skills

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

· Comfortable learning CRM, order management, and other business systems.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

· Ability to organize information and manage multiple assignments.

· Ability to learn new processes, systems, and terminology quickly.

The full-time CSR I role similarly emphasizes Microsoft Office proficiency, the ability to learn CRM and order management systems, communication skills, and strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
