Status: This is a full-time; hourly position
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 6am – 4:30pm & Friday: 6am – 10:30am; overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY: The Driller is responsible for drilling along a marked line so that the material can be efficiently separated by a later mechanical process in accordance with quality standards.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Evaluate the current stability of the block or ledge.
• Determine probable movement of the piece during the process.
• Develop an appropriate fall prevention plan.
• Position mobile power equipment in a safe location
• Obtain safe access to the working surface – proper ladder height and usage.
• Use all engineering control devices to reduce personal noise exposure levels
• Use and maintain all dust control devices
• Set the drill mast securely so as to assure straight quality holes
• Understand all control functions and gauge readouts
• Understand what is the proper amount of footage to put on a bit
• Be able to handle drill rod of various drill rod lengths
• Basic math skills with ability to accurately read tape measure
• Understand sonar hole locating equipment
• This position spends 100% of the time outdoors. Quarry conditions can vary from extreme summer heat to below zero cold, wind and rain. Opportunities for occasional work at other quarries may arise

• This position requires traversing of rough terrain. Need to climb ladders, steps or other elevated platforms. 
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs and frequent bending and lifting. 
• Machine specific training required.
• Must have the ability to recognize hazards. 
• General maintenance skills.
• At least 1 year of related experience 

This is a representation of the position’s entire pay grade range. Starting pay is based on an individual’s skills, experience, and at the discretion of the hiring team.
