Description

Commercial Loan Officer Level 1

The Commercial Loan Officer 1 is responsible for commercial banking for companies up to $60 million in revenue. Focuses on developing skillset, building network and establishing sound and efficient Commercial Loan Officer practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manages business development by acquiring new commercial banking business by utilizing effective calling techniques to achieve corporate growth; maintains and develops relationships with centers of influence including, accountants, attorneys, community leaders, professional and/or social organizations; attends networking, charity, and corporate functions for prospecting and establishment of relationships. Consistently updates supervisor regarding pending banking business and metrics. Proactively seeks support from experienced Commercial Loan Officers as appropriate. Responsible for meeting or exceeding Commercial Loan Officer Level 1 sales plan.
  2. Manages portfolios and underwriting by coordinating with clients on accounts and other issues related to the commercial relationships; works with commercial team members to facilitate credit application process, perform site visits, work with underwriter to obtain decisions, and work with underwriting to perform annual reviews of assigned portfolio; identifies, evaluates, structures and documents commercial credit transactions to ensure maximum profitability with reasonable risk; monitors credit quality within assigned portfolios and takes action as appropriate. Consistently updates supervisor regarding portfolio and underwriting status.
  3. Works closely with other departments to handle client service issues and to cross sell other bank products; handles high level executive account and loan requests to reinforce extraordinary service levels. Proactively works to establish strong relationships with key members of other departments.
  4. Professionally represents the bank in civic and community functions to further enhance the bank’s visibility while increasing business development.
  5. Attends training to continually improve sales and presentation skills, commercial, SBA and treasury management knowledge, and other applicable banking knowledge.
  6. As directed, supports management of service providers and vendors effectively; structures relationships with service providers in a strategic manner; sets expectations; develops performance metrics; measures vendor performance, provides feedback and holds accountable.
  7. Complies with all applicable banking laws and regulations, including, but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and related anti-money laundering statutes, and federal consumer protection legislation and regulations.
  8. Other Duties as assigned.

Job Requirements Level 1

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. 1-4 years of commercial lending/sales experience and a demonstrated track record of success in meeting progressive plan goals, portfolio management, and effective cross-departmental collaboration is required.
  2. Understanding of commercial lending laws, regulations, and guidelines is required.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, statistics, business or other related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. 
  5. EasyLender, Cleartouch, OnBase, CreditQuest, various government and investor software/web portals is preferred. 
  6. CRM software is preferred.
  7. Experience in financial services or banking is preferred.
  8. Completed, actively pursuing or willing to begin progressive OBL/ABA certification courses related to position, required.

Commercial Loan Officer Level 2

On top of the duties and responsibilities listed in level 1, level 2 duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Responsible for meeting or exceeding Commercial Loan Officer Level 2 sales plan.
  2. Acts as a mentor to credit analysts, portfolio managers, and less experienced loan officers.
  3. Manages service providers and vendors effectively; structures relationships with service providers in a strategic manner; sets expectations; develops performance metrics; measures vendor performance; provides feedback and holds them accountable.

Job Requirements Level 2

On top of the qualifications and skills listed in level 1, level 2 qualifications and skills:

  1. 4-7 years of commercial lending/sales experience and a demonstrated track record of success in meeting progressive plan goals, developing commercial business, portfolio management, and effective cross-departmental collaboration is required
  2. Thorough understanding of commercial lending laws, regulations, and guidelines is required.


Commercial Loan Officer Level 3

The Commercial Loan Officer 3 is responsible for commercial banking for companies up to $60 million in revenue. Regarded as senior member of loan officer team and responsible for highest level of business development results, portfolio management, collaboration and professional representation. Serves as mentor to less experienced team members. 

On top of the duties and responsibilities of level 1 and 2, level 3 duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Regarded as Senior Commercial Loan Officer, responsible for meeting or exceeding Commercial Loan Officer Level 3 sales plan.
  2. Regarded as Senior Commercial Loan Officer, focused on managing portfolio with largest and most complex clients and accounts.
  3. Handles high level executive account and loan requests to reinforce extraordinary service levels.
  4. Offers advice, presents learning opportunities, supports relationship building and assists with training as needed.

Job Requirements Level 3

On top of the qualifications and skills listed in levels 1 and 2, level 3 qualifications and skills include:

  1. 7-10 years of commercial lending/sales experience and a demonstrated track record of success in meeting progressive plan goals, developing commercial business, portfolio management, and effective cross-departmental collaboration are required.

Physical Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift, walk, stand, sit, bend, reach with hands and arms, climb, push/pull, use hands, and see, hear and speak.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • This position is performed in a hybrid office setting, five days a week with typical work hours being 8.30a through 5.15p.
