POSITION SUMMARY:
The registered dietician will counsel both individuals, and groups, on daily nutrition needs for health as well as performance using scientific, evidenced-based nutritional recommendations. The position develops individualized nutrition plans that will satisfy client goals and based on their nutritional needs. The position is responsible for building a strong network of relationships with members, growing and maintaining a solid client base for nutrition counseling, and designing, implementing, and leading specialty nutrition programs as needed. This position may involve early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops nutrition plans to meet member needs
- Supports members towards nutrition goals
- Audits member progress
- Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion
- Assist as needed in touring prospective members, selling memberships, and connecting members into programs and services offered by the Health and Wellness department
- Provides outstanding member service
- Stays current with advances in nutrition and nutrition education
Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
COMPENSATION
$25.00 - $31.82; Part Time; Non Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or related field. Must have R.D. credential. Previous nutrition education experience preferred. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Ability to actively take part and lead group activities. YMCA experience preferred. Must take part in and pass the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids’ Wellness Employee Quality Assessment (WEQA).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (required)
- First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
- AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days
- Blood Borne Pathogen training
- State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
- YMCAPT, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE certification, or equivalent, required
- Registered Dietician
