Role Summary

MCI is seeking a Building Automation / HVAC Controls Technician who understands both HVAC equipment and the controls systems operating it. The ideal candidate can contribute to installation, programming, commissioning and troubleshooting of BAS systems; candidates experienced with another controls platform can be considered if they have strong fundamentals and the ability to learn Siemens.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and terminate BAS controls wiring and field devices. 
• Program and configure controllers and control sequences. 
• Commission building-automation systems. 
• Troubleshoot sensors, actuators, controllers and integrations. 
• Diagnose both HVAC/mechanical and controls-related problems. 
• Read mechanical drawings, schematics and controls documentation. 
• Support panel and network setup. 
• Verify system operation against intended sequences. 
• Document programming and field changes accurately. 
• Coordinate with HVAC service technicians, electricians and project teams. 
• Communicate system findings clearly to customers. 
• Continue technical development on MCI's Siemens platform. 

Required Qualifications

• HVAC systems knowledge and strong mechanical fundamentals. 
• Electrical troubleshooting ability. 
• Computer aptitude and comfort working with software-based systems. 
• Ability to interpret schematics, sequences and plans. 
• Systematic troubleshooting mindset. 
• Strong documentation and communication habits. 
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving eligibility. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Existing BAS/building-controls experience. 
• Siemens controls experience. 
• Programming and commissioning experience. 
• Experience with Johnson Controls or another major BAS platform. 
• Networking/integration knowledge. 
• Commercial HVAC service background. 

Success Metrics

• Independently completes increasingly complex controls assignments. 
• Programs and commissions systems accurately. 
• Diagnoses controls problems without overlooking underlying HVAC issues. 
• Produces clear, reliable documentation. 
• Reduces dependence on the Service Manager for routine BAS work. 
• Develops toward a lead-level controls resource.
