Responsibilities & Duties 

· Sweeps, dusts, mops office spaces/walkways; bathrooms, break rooms and conference rooms.

· Gathers and empties trash and keeps water or Gatorade filled in drinking bins,

· Services, cleans, and restocks supplies in restrooms.

· Cleans out refrigerators in break rooms.

· Maintains janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.

· Mixes water, chemicals, or detergents to create cleaning solutions.

· Performs and monitors building security by walking around checking security alarms, doors and for hazards.

· Performs safety checks by performing such tasks as locking door and checking electrical appliances to ensure they have been shut off.

· Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning duties.

· Notifies management concerning the need for major repairs to building or operating systems 

· Performs other duties as assigned or needed

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

· 6 months to 1 year custodial or janitor experience plus some experience working as a guard or safety officer. 

· Must be reliable, self-motivated, and ability to work nights

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions

· Ability to multitask and work independently 

· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors

Work Environment & Physical Demands

· Work is performed primarily in an office environment with low noise level. The employee in this class is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

· This position requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to accomplish tasks.

· Frequently requires walking, standing, bending/ twisting, reaching, and carrying items weighing less than 50 lbs.

· Frequently is exposed to contaminants, such as cleaning supplies.

· Constantly requires clear vision to read printed materials on cleaning items. 

· Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Tools, Equipment & Protective Gear Used 

· Safety glasses/goggles and rubber gloves, broom, and mop
