Credit and Portfolio Management Analyst - Hybrid
Description

The Credit and Portfolio Management Analyst is an entry-level or early-career member of the bank’s credit team who supports designated relationship manager portfolios through ongoing portfolio management, financial analysis, and underwriting assistance. The role is primarily focused on financial statement and covenant tracking, annual reviews, maturity extensions, borrowing base monitoring, and special projects. The analyst will support a diverse commercial portfolio that may range from smaller traditional community banking relationships to larger and more complex commercial and industrial (C&I) loans. Working under the guidance of experienced underwriters and credit officers, the analyst will develop sound credit judgment, communicate clearly with internal partners, and help ensure timely, accurate portfolio administration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial statement, covenant, and other credit-related tracking for assigned relationship manager portfolios; follow up on outstanding items and escalate past-due or noncompliant items as appropriate.
  • Complete annual reviews and support periodic portfolio reviews by analyzing borrower performance, repayment capacity, collateral, guarantor strength, industry conditions, and risk trends.
  • Prepare maturity extension, renewal, modification, and amendment analyses, including updated financial spreads, cash flow analysis, risk assessment, and documentation of key changes since the prior approval.
  • Review borrower financial statements, business and guarantor tax returns, personal financial statements, credit reports, compliance certificates, and other supporting information.
  • Perform financial statement and tax return spreading, ratio analysis, global cash flow analysis, and trend analysis with appropriate guidance and review.
  • Support the analysis of borrowers ranging from traditional community banking businesses to larger C&I companies that provide audited, reviewed, or interim company-prepared financial statements.
  • Review and analyze borrowing base reports, collateral availability, and related trends; identify exceptions and communicate concerns to the appropriate underwriter, credit officer, or relationship manager.
  • Review covenant compliance calculations and supporting reporting; update internal tracking and promptly identify potential covenant violations or adverse trends.
  • Assist senior underwriters and relationship managers with underwriting new credit requests by gathering information, completing financial analysis, researching industries, and drafting assigned portions of credit memoranda.
  • Prepare clear, concise credit memoranda, annual review narratives, portfolio reports, and presentations that summarize financial performance, key risks, mitigating factors, and recommended follow-up actions.
  • Conduct economic, industry, borrower, and portfolio research to support credit analysis and special projects.
  • Assist with portfolio reporting, data validation, process improvement initiatives, and other special projects assigned to the credit team.
  • Communicate professionally with relationship managers, underwriters, credit officers, loan operations, and other internal partners to obtain information and keep assigned work moving.
  • Follow the bank’s credit policies, procedures, approval requirements, regulatory expectations, and documentation standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Entry-level candidates and candidates with relevant internship, banking, accounting, financial analysis, or credit experience will be considered.
  • Foundational knowledge of accounting, financial statements, cash flow analysis, and business finance.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and in discussions with internal partners.
  • Curiosity, sound judgment, and willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and develop independent analytical conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team supporting designated relationship manager portfolios and to assist across commercial lending areas as business needs require.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
  • Experience with Moody’s CreditLens is a plus.
  • Experience using Microsoft Copilot or similar AI-enabled productivity tools is a plus.
  • Formal credit training or coursework in accounting, finance, or commercial banking is a plus.
  • This role is hybrid requirement at least 3 days in office at our Buckhead Corporate Office in Atlanta, GA.
