What does the Cheekwood Retail Team do? 

At Cheekwood, the retail team oversees the operations of two gift shops on the property. The Garden Gift Shop sells gardening tools, décor, and children's items. The Mansion Gift Shop is located inside the Historic Mansion & Museum, selling jewelry, art, and gift items. The shops are open 9am-4pm. During Holiday Lights, we open our Holiday Shop which is a high-volume shop selling holiday merchandise.  In addition to the shops being open from 9am-4pm, they are open from 4pm-10pm during Holiday Lights, which runs from November 16, 2026 through January 3, 2027. 

What will you be doing?

This role provides excellent customer service, drives sales, and assists in store operations during Cheekwood’s busy holiday season. 

Essential Responsibilities 

• Customer Service: Welcomes visitors as a Cheekwood representative. Provides a friendly attitude, excellent service, product information, and active upselling to meet store goals.
• Sales Floor Engagement: Maintains an active presence on the sales floor. Engages customers multiple times during their visit to drive sales, prevent loss, and keep the store tidy.
• Operations & POS: Operates the Point of Sale computer system to complete sales, returns, and transactions. Tracks daily financial goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Closing Procedures: Responsible for executing nightly closing procedures within the Holiday Shop and Garden Shop.
• Inventory Management: Stocks merchandise according to store and visual merchandising standards, and replenishes bags, tissue, and bubble wrap.

• Experience: Customer service experience is required. Retail experience is preferred. Must be comfortable managing store operations on your own during peak times and opening and closing solo. 
• Availability: Flexible evening schedule. Must have the availability to work 2-5 shifts or 16–30 hours each week, including nights and weekends. Fully available for the entire holiday season.
• Skills: Knowledge of merchandise, ability to upsell, and a pleasant service-oriented demeanor. Ability to remain productive and motivated while working alone.
• Physical: Willingness to walk and stand for long periods.
