Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Loan Closer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and coordinating all documentation related to the closing, funding, renewal, and modification of commercial loans. This role ensures compliance with applicable regulations and governing policies, administers construction loans and lines of credit, performs cash flow analysis, monitors collateral and loan system accuracy, and supports the full loan lifecycle from pre-closing through post-closing servicing 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advocate for the core values and core purpose of the organization, and serve as a compelling spokesperson for the mission of the Foundations

  • Complete all required training, including but not limited to monthly IT security training and other assigned training courses/modules by the deadline provided 
  • Prepare or engage outside counsel for all required loan documentation for new commercial loans, renewals, modifications, and construction financing. 
  • Ensure all pre-closing conditions are satisfied and coordinate loan closings in compliance with governing by-laws, organizational policies, and applicable regulations. 
  • Order and review title commitments and searches; coordinate with title companies, borrowers, and attorneys to resolve liens, exceptions, and ensure proper lien position. 
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure loan documents comply with real estate laws and regulatory requirements. 
  • Review construction contracts and budgets prior to closing, as applicable. 
  • Disburse initial loan funding and complete post-closing activities, including collateral exception tracking and file documentation. 
  • Establish and maintain accurate loan system records, including pipeline tracking and funding schedules. 
  • Calculate loan payments, rate adjustments, and payoff quotes and related borrower correspondence. 
  • Process loan payments and provide ongoing loan servicing support. 
  • Prepare reports, audits, statements, and correspondence to support portfolio management and compliance requirements. 
  • Assess transaction details, identify potential risks, and escalate concerns to the Team Lead or management as appropriate. 
  • Provide operational support to Loan Officers and respond to loan-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Perform notarial services in the State of Texas, as required. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):

  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial loan documentation, closing, funding, servicing, and construction lending processes. 
  • Strong knowledge of title review, lien priority, real estate compliance, and applicable regulatory requirements. 
  • Strong knowledge of loan documentation systems and related technology platforms. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities. 
  • Strong detail with excellent organizational and time management skills. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. 
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex loan documents, policies, and regulations. 
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions in a deadline-driven environment. 
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. 


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND LICENSES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Finance/Accounting, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience 


EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years of progressive experience in commercial loan documentation, closing, and funding required 
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations and/or ministries preferred 


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to pass a background check  
  • Notary Public commissioned in the State of Texas 
  • Valid driver’s license and related insurance  


WORKING CONDITIONS

The working conditions for this position include an indoor, climate-controlled office environment with minimal health and safety hazards. This position requires the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, multitask, and perform complex/varied/simple/repetitive tasks. Must be able to control the work pace, follow instructions, influence people, handle confrontational situations, and work alone or in a group. The position involves working with confidential financial information and may require travel for business needs. Tobacco-free environment. 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements for this position are considered to be low and will primarily involve sitting at a desk and using a computer for extended periods. The position requires constant sitting and bending forward, frequent walking, twisting/turning/tilting, reaching chest to shoulder level and below chest level, climbing stairs, occasional standing, driving, reaching above shoulder level, elbow/wrist flexion and extension, and rare crouching/squatting, bending backward and behind the body, and foot pedal action. The individual must have fine motor skills to operate office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Sensory demands include hearing, speech, and vision.
