LandVest is seeking an energetic and dedicated professional for its Strike Force team. While we might not repel out of helicopters, LandVest’s Strike Force lands in some exciting locations. Do you have a desire to travel and work in forests throughout the US? Strike Force foresters play a vital role to LandVest’s clients providing forest inventory, timber marking, harvest layout, and boundary maintenance services across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and elsewhere in the United States.

The Strike Force is a team of foresters that are strategically located throughout the Northeast. Each member works locally with one of LandVest’s regional offices. The team travels together to a project location approximately 8-10 days per month. While not on an out-of-town project, this person will assist our Biometrician in data management, data quality control and analytics and our regional manager with field work. This will be a mix of 60-70% field work and 30-40% office work. LandVest is committed to training and mentorship so our foresters will quickly become well versed in several aspects of forest management and inventory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inventory: Overstory and understory data collection using a variety of inventory methods including point sample, fixed radius and carbon inventory protocols. Use of field data recorders and mobile GIS solutions.
• Timber Marking: Implementation of silvicultural prescriptions through marking & sale layout
• Other Field Duties: Boundary line maintenance and GPS data collection.
• Data Management: Review incoming data, verify quality and accuracy and reformat as needed.

• Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or similar from an SAF accredited program.
• Preferred one or more years of work experience with similar duties. Carbon cruising experience is a plus.
• Strong data management skills – Excel, Access, R, Python.
• Strong work ethic, dedication and commitment to excellence.
• Willingness to travel predominantly across the Northeast and occasionally Pennsylvania or elsewhere on short notice.
• Passion for the forestry profession.
• Open mind and readiness to learn from experienced foresters.
• Willingness to work alone outdoors in all weather conditions and difficult terrain.
