Lynch Chicago is looking for a dependable, hands-on Body Shop Technician or Apprentice to join our team. We work primarily on trucks and commercial vehicles; previous truck experience is preferred—not required. We are open to an experienced technician or an apprentice who already has basic bodywork skills and wants to learn more. You must be comfortable working with your hands and capable of performing body repairs with limited supervision based on your experience level.

• Previous body shop, collision repair, restoration, or vehicle-repair experience
• Basic bodywork ability is required, even for apprentice applicants
• Painting experience is strongly preferred but not required
• Bus, truck, RV, fleet, or commercial-vehicle experience is a plus
• Experience with fiberglass repair is a major plus
• Ability to safely use body shop tools, sanders, grinders, spray equipment, and hand tools
• Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Ability to lift parts and materials and work in different physical positions throughout the day

Experienced Technician: Able to independently complete body repairs, preparation, and ideally painting or refinishing.

Apprentice: Must have some hands-on bodywork experience and a strong mechanical aptitude. Training and development may be provided to the right person who is reliable, hardworking, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Repair dents, rust, scratches, cracks, and other body damage
• Remove, repair, align, and replace body panels and exterior components
• Perform fiberglass and metal body repairs
• Prepare surfaces through sanding, grinding, filling, masking, and priming
• Assist with or perform automotive painting and refinishing
• Match paint colors and blend repaired areas when qualified
• Perform light welding and fabrication as needed
• Repair or replace bumpers, doors, mirrors, trim, and related components
• Inspect completed work for proper fit, finish, and quality
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Assist with other body shop and vehicle-reconditioning work as needed
