Description

G.D. Roberts & Co., Inc. is looking for a Laser Operator to join our Production team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating laser cutting equipment to produce quality metal parts according to specifications.

What You’ll Do

Set up and operate laser cutting equipment for metal cutting
Follow proper machine start-up and shut-down procedures
Monitor cutting performance and make adjustments as needed
Perform quality inspections to ensure parts meet specifications
Transfer files from Engineering to the laser program
Sort and stack parts and materials as needed
Perform lens adjustments when required
Use a forklift, pallet jack, crane, and hoist to move materials
Read and understand prints, process sheets, nesting paperwork, and other production documents
Follow company procedures and the Business Management System
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

General manufacturing experience, preferably with sheet metal
Basic math and computer skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to use basic hand and power tools
Familiarity with a tape measure and caliper
Ability to understand prints and production documents
General to intermediate mechanical aptitude
Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements & Work Environment Required:

Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and crouching
Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Working around laser sparks, dust, smoke, and flash
Exposure to oils and solvents on products and materials
Working around sharp edges on parts and materials
Working around forklift traffic
