Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is seeking a creative, collaborative and organized marketing professional to serve as Marketing & Audience Experience Manager, a new member of the Marketing, Communications & Media and Guest Services team.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Audience Development, this role is responsible for executing the DSO's local advertising, in-venue marketing, and audience experience initiatives in support of ticket sales, subscriptions, and patron engagement. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that partners closely with Creative Services, Communications & Media, Guest Services & Ticketing, Meyerson Operations, and Artistic Operations to bring campaigns and activations to life across advertising, in-venue, and patron touchpoints.
Key Responsibilities
Local Advertising
- Work with Director of Marketing & Audience Development (DMAD) to set campaign timelines—ensuring campaigns are coordinated with other Marketing and Development efforts
- Manage ad buys for radio, TV, print, OOH and other media as needed
- Manage in coordination with the Creative Services team, direct mail campaign logistics including creative production timelines, coordinating with mailing house, and communicating patron record updates to Guest Services.
- Work in coordination with Digital Marketing Manager to ensure local advertising campaigns are timely and aligned
- Adhere to established concert and campaign budgets, monitoring invoices and keeping up-to-date records
- Support the DMAD with distribution plans for season brochures and promotional mailings
In-Venue Marketing
- Schedule team member assignments for concert duty and communicate lobby activation responsibilities to staff
- Maintain print and in-venue marketing materials including banners and stands, posters, digital signage, brochures and booklets, promotional giveaway items, etc.
- Develop a plan for in-venue signage and collateral and work with Creative Services on design and timelines to make sure marketing collateral is always up to date
- Create and schedule in-venue videos that are shown on the television monitors at each concert
Audience Experience
- Lead engaging, relevant activations for DSO concerts, community programs, donor events as applicable, and other patron touchpoints
- Coordinate annual activations aligned with subscription marketing plans for early renewals, renewals, and acquisitions
- Review all post-concert surveys and report on findings and opportunities for improvement with Meyerson Operations and Artistic Operations
- Support the DMAD in community partnership execution through cross-promotion and audience engagement efforts
- Collaborate with Communications & Media to gather patron stories, sentiments, and real-time feedback on activations
Reporting
- Work with the DMAD to identify KPIs for subscriber and patron experience success
- Prepare monthly and campaign specific post-concert reports
- Evaluate tactics, assess impact, and adjust strategies to improve the effectiveness of our traditional media marketing and patron experiences
- Bachelor's degree Marketing, Business Administration, Music Business, Communications or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- Minimum of 1-3 years in marketing, with a focus on advertising, event production, or audience/patron engagement
- Experience managing local advertising placements (radio, TV, print, OOH, or direct mail), including vendor and budget coordination
- Working knowledge of audience feedback tools and post-event reporting
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with copywriting experience
- Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and creatively
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines across a variety of internal departments and external partners
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently, while initiating and driving programs as a results-oriented team player
- Creative aptitude for designing contests, giveaways, and interactive activations that build audience engagement
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate audience engagement in real time and post-event, translating findings into strategy
- Keen attention to brand consistency across in-venue materials, signage, and activations
- Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities across multiple concurrent projects
- Passion for the arts and a commitment to audience engagement and community impact
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Preferred
- Experience in the arts, entertainment, or nonprofit sector
- Experience planning and executing live event activations, promotions, or experiential marketing
- Experience managing event logistics, including vendor coordination, staffing, and production timelines
- Familiarity with Tessitura or a comparable CRM/ticketing platform
