Morgan Shop: Temporary Stockroom Associate
(Part-time)
The Morgan Library & Museum invites applications for the position of Temporary Part-Time Stockroom Associate. Reporting to the Director of Merchandising, the Stockroom Associate will work closely with the Inventory and Shipping Specialist to process both incoming and outgoing shipments for the Morgan Shop as well as maintain a safe and organized inventory stockroom. This role must be able to assist the sales floor with restocking of merchandise and supplies as needed. This position requires heavy lifting, transport of boxes and merchandise, and long periods of standing.
This role is temporary for 17 weeks total from the start date.
This position is scheduled to work up to 21 hours per week. Preferred availability includes day shifts on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 10:15 AM–5:15 PM.
Responsibilities
- Accurately receives and carefully inspects incoming shipments and merchandise for the Shop
- Communicates discrepancies, damages, purchase order and invoice needs to process incoming shipments.
- Works closely with the Inventory & Shipping Specialist to keep both incoming and outgoing shipments organized and processed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Assists in keeping organized records of receipt of merchandise in both the Shop’s POS system and inventory paperwork.
- Responsible for the careful and timely fulfillment of outgoing online and in-store mail orders.
- Ensures the stockroom is properly maintained for a safe and clean work environment at all times.
- Supports a clear and organized inventory storage system that aligns with the merchandising strategies of the sales floor.
- Assists the sales floor with merchandise and supply restocking needs.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Merchandising.
Qualifications
- High school/GED minimum
- Prior stockroom or retail experience preferred
- Must be able to lift, haul, and transport merchandise and boxes up to 50lbs
- Position requires long periods of standing and some light cleaning
- Detail-oriented with superior organizational, spatial reasoning, and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Computer literate (POS/Inventory system and e-commerce knowledge a plus.)
- Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently and within a team
- Operates well in a fast-paced environment
- Museum and/or art-related experience desirable
Compensation
$22.50 per hour
