Title: Impact Lead I, (MFS) Membership & Family Services – Monterey
[25 hours/week]
Work Schedule: Part-time – generally scheduled up to 25 hours per week, Mondays – Fridays, between 12:00 pm -6:00pm with occasional later evening and weekend responsibilities for programming, training, and special events.

Location: Casanova Oak Knoll Park Center 735 Ramona Ave., Monterey, CA

POSITION SUMMARY: Working under the direction of the Site Supervisor, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC) MFS, Impact Leader I is directly responsible for achieving the BGCMC’s Mission by providing outstanding customer service to reinforce a welcoming, positive Club environment, with special emphasis on instilling a sense of belonging among youth and parents. Additionally, the MFS Impact Leader I is responsible for maintaining accurate Membership records and following Membership protocols and standard operating procedures.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Youth Success
- Create a welcoming environment for youth, parents and other stakeholders
- Provide prompt, professional, courteous customer service for youth and the general public by knowing current program and activity offerings
- Adhere to Membership Services protocols and procedures
- Uphold BGCMC rules, operational values, etc. through a youth development approach
- Enforce mandatory sign-in process for all Members, volunteers, visitors, and vendors
- Provide weekly new member/parent orientations and instruct new members of Club rules and use of membership card
- Respect the confidentiality of member, employee, and volunteer information
- Ensure culture of high expectations and monthly recognition of youth for their efforts, achievements
- Address youth behavior with a positive discipline approach that incorporates responsibility, accountability and appropriate consequences for their actions
- Serve as role model to youth exemplifying the pillars of Good Character & Citizenship
- Serve as a mentor to guide youth through personal and educational challenges
- Demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, respect for others, and a strong commitment to the positive development and well-being of youth
- Model appropriate behavior, professionalism, responsibility, and respectful communication at all times.
Membership Management
- Ensure the entry area, front counter and other work spaces are safe, neat, clean, and in order to provide outstanding customer service
- Maintain Kidtrax database for the Monterey site, collect and report accurate Membership data utilizing electronic and paper-based tracking tools
- Comply with Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD), Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELOP) data sharing agreement defined in the current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BGCMC’s Monterey Site
- Manage the MPUSD, ELOP membership data base, 6Crickets for the Monterey Site
- Maintain inventory, ensure equipment/supplies are in good working order and stewarded as intended
- Communicate effectively using the public address system, phone, in person, e-mail and Blackboard system
- Maintain daily tracking and reporting of the Catch the Bus Program in coordination with Operations
- Provide accurate record keeping of membership financial transactions and timely submission to Accounting
- Communicate any safety, transportation, maintenance, technology, and facility issues to Operations
Family Services & Volunteer Support
- Provide families with information regarding community service agencies
- Assist with parent education and support group workshops for families as needed
- Provide orientations for volunteers and Service Learners
- Represent the organization and interpret its objectives, standards, and programs
- Support outreach efforts at BGCMC’s information booth in community events and other opportunities as assigned by the Site Supervisor
Collateral Duties
- Participate in training classes related to membership services and local family resources
- Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with fulfilling the primary function of position
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 6 months in customer service and/or office experience
- Tech savvy, including proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, Google Work Space and Internet for maximum productivity
- Must have a reliable and accessible mode of transportation to the work site
- Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present to diverse audiences
Physical Demands & Additional Requirements
- Ability to perform work in a highly interactive, emotionally and physically stimulating environment
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position including sitting or standing at least 50% of the time
- Must be able to lift up to 35lbs
Highly desirable qualifications:
- Oral and written fluency and proficiency in English and Spanish
- First Aid & CPR Certification
- Cultural competence, ability to work with a diverse youth and people
COMPENSATION:
Pay rate begins at $19.00 to $19.96 per hour, and is based on experience. Professional development opportunities are available contingent upon funding and approval. This position is classified as non-exempt and as such is eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
