Manages and coordinates the activities of Packaging Line Operators and the Packaging Mechanical Maintenance team. This position supports safe, compliant, and efficient packaging operations; coordinates equipment set-up, troubleshooting, and repair; helps ensure production schedules are met; maintains cGMP compliance; and develops employees to achieve departmental and company objectives.
1. Production Planning and Packaging Requirements: Review packaging requirements, production schedules, and work requests to determine product, container, equipment, and labor requirements. Prepare or support preparation of Packaging MPRs and adjust work procedures and staffing as needed to meet production schedules efficiently.
2. Documentation and Line Compliance: Prepare, review, and maintain SOPs and MPRs. Observe packaging operations, perform pre-run inspections and line checks, verify products and containers conform to specifications, and audit MPRs and logbooks as required.
3. Team Supervision: Provide daily supervision and direction to Packaging Line Operators and Packaging Mechanical Maintenance technicians. Communicate company policies, safety requirements, quality expectations, and departmental priorities.
4. cGMP, Safety, and Quality Compliance: Ensure assigned employees comply with MBRs, MPRs, SOPs, cGMP requirements, applicable safety regulations, and company policies.
5. Equipment Set-Up, Troubleshooting, and Repair: Coordinate packaging equipment set-up, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance support to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
6. Failure Investigations and Corrective Actions: Identify and resolve production and equipment problems and inconsistencies. Conduct product and equipment failure investigations, determine corrective actions, document follow-up activities, and provide required training.
7. Vendor and Maintenance Coordination: Contact and coordinate with vendors and internal maintenance resources as needed to address equipment malfunctions and support timely repairs.
8. KPI and Performance Tracking: Monitor departmental performance, labor-hour requirements, and daily time measurements. Maintain data used for Packaging KPI calculations and tracking.
9. Interdepartmental Coordination: Work with managers and supervisors to coordinate interdepartmental activities and resources necessary to meet the production schedule.
10. Continuous Improvement: Identify equipment, process, and procedural improvements that increase efficiency and throughput while maintaining safety, quality, and cGMP compliance.
11. Spare Parts and Resource Management: Order and maintain appropriate Packaging equipment spare-parts inventory and support effective use of departmental resources.
12. Employee Development and Succession Planning: Develop achievable and measurable progression plans for employees and maintain succession planning for the Packaging Mechanical Maintenance team and other assigned personnel.
13. Personnel Management: Interview, hire, train, assign, and direct work; provide performance feedback; recognize performance; address employee concerns; and administer corrective action in accordance with company policy.
14. Other Duties: Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
