Lead Production Pharmacy Technician  

Description 

The Lead Production Pharmacy Technician supports the daily operations of the pharmacy technician team by coordinating workflow, providing training and guidance, and helping ensure medications are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established pharmacy procedures. This role works closely with pharmacists and pharmacy leadership to maintain productivity, quality, compliance, and effective pharmacy operations. 

Responsibilities: 

• Coordinate daily technician workflow, assign tasks, and help ensure productivity, accuracy, and quality standards are met. 
• Train and support pharmacy technicians on standard operating procedures, pharmacy systems, medication handling, and departmental workflows. 
• Support the accurate and timely processing, preparation, filling, packaging, and dispensing of medications within technician scope. 
• Identify prescription or medication-related issues and escalate matters requiring pharmacist review or professional judgment. 
• Monitor medication and supply inventory and coordinate replenishment needs with appropriate team members. 
• Assist with resolving routine workflow, inventory, prescription processing, and operational issues. 
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, accuracy, and overall department efficiency. 
• Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation in accordance with established procedures. 
• Support compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations, HIPAA requirements, company policies, and standard operating procedures. 
• Assist with pharmacy audits, inspections, medication recalls, and other quality or compliance activities as needed. 
• Perform other related responsibilities and projects as assigned. 

 Requirements Basic Qualifications 

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent demonstrated capability. 
• Active pharmacy technician license 
• At least 2 years of pharmacy technician or comparable pharmacy operations experience. 
• Knowledge of pharmacy workflows, medication handling, prescription processing, and pharmacy systems. 
• Ability to provide training, guidance, and workflow support to pharmacy technicians. 
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and appropriate turnaround times. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• PTCB or other nationally recognized pharmacy technician certification. 
• Previous lead, senior, or training experience in a pharmacy environment. 
• Long-term care, institutional, closed-door, or high-volume pharmacy experience.
