Spotlight Events, Inc. is an employee-owned (ESOP), a purpose-driven organization headquartered in Eagle, Idaho. For nearly three decades, our brands—Spotlight Dance Cup and LEAP National Dance Competition—have stood at the forefront of the competitive dance industry, producing approximately 90 events in 30 states and 50+ cities annually.

Position Overview

The Video Specialist is responsible for capturing, managing, and delivering high-quality video footage of live performances at Spotlight Events’ competitions. This individual ensures consistent video camera operation, production quality, monitors audio recordings, troubleshoots technical issues, maintains livestream operations, and manages media files. The Video Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining Spotlight’s brand standards by ensuring that video output meets expectations of excellence, while also supporting stage setup, load-in/load-out, and collaborating closely with the production team.

Key Responsibilities

• Log, capture, and deliver high-quality video of live routines via computer software and on-board recording
• Monitor judges’ audio recordings during live events
• Set up and ensure proper functionality of video equipment and assigned computers
• Troubleshoot issues and provide basic technical support during events
• Collaborate with Technical Assistant to optimize stage lighting for video production
• Assist with Photographer operations
• Assist with stage setup and general event preparation once media setup is complete
• Support truck load-in/load-out and equipment transport
• Manage, back up, and organize video files after each event
• Provide reliable and consistent video production under tight deadlines
• Deliver outstanding customer service to both internal teams and external clients
• Work independently and collaboratively with production staff in fast-paced environments
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through

Key Qualifications & Competencies

• Experience in Livestreaming operations (sports, dance, or similar) (Preferred)
• Strong understanding of video capture and troubleshooting camera setups
• Experience in cable management and protocol
• Experience with live streaming software and ATEM switchers
• Ability to deliver smooth, consistent video quality
• Basic Windows OS troubleshooting and computer networking skills
• Strong reading comprehension and communication skills
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude during long workdays in dynamic environments
• Willingness to travel extensively and adapt to varied travel arrangements (airports, car rentals, road trips)
• Willingness to share hotel accommodations with same-gender colleagues

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Travel is required during our event season (January–July), and team members must reside within reasonable proximity to a U.S. international airport or hub to accommodate frequent travel.

On average, the role involves attending approximately 6–10 regional events each year, typically lasting 3–5 days, with the possibility of 1–2 national events lasting 6–8 days. 

Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, setting up equipment, and working in a variety of environments, such as event venues, hotels, and stages. Staff members must also be comfortable sharing hotel accommodations with same-gender colleagues during event assignments.

Mock Training: All new/first year event staff are required to attend an audition and training session in Eagle, Idaho (Typically hosted January 4th–8th). Spotlight provides flights, transport, lodging, and meals. Travel may occur one day before or after the scheduled dates.
