Position Overview

The Boutique Sales Associate is responsible for managing Spotlight’s on-site boutique at events, ensuring an engaging shopping experience and smooth merchandise operations. This role involves setting up and tearing down pop-up retail locations, maintaining inventory accuracy, assisting with stage or truck setup as needed, and providing excellent client service in alignment with Spotlight’s standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and tear down the pop-up boutique at events, often early mornings or late evenings
  • Maintain an organized, visually appealing, and well-stocked store
  • Accurately count, reconcile, and manage a cash drawer, reporting discrepancies to management
  • Meet city-specific sales goals through suggestive selling, multiple product sales, and upselling strategies
  • Conduct post-event inventory to assist in restocking and maintain proper quantities
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system for all transactions, returns, and exchanges
  • Build lasting relationships with clients and customers
  • Provide knowledgeable, friendly service and uphold Spotlight’s customer experience standards
  • Understand Spotlight Dance Cup procedures and guidelines to accurately answer questions
  • Assist with stage setup once boutique duties are complete
  • Support truck loading and unloading as needed


Key Qualifications & Competencies

  • Prior experience in customer service, retail, or boutique sales
  • Knowledge of merchandise display and retail best practices helpful
  • Exposure to dance, theater, or live event environments (Preferred)
  • Prior customer service or retail experience required; merchandising knowledge (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with dance or performing arts is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to remain professional and positive in high-energy environments


Work Environment & Physical Demands

Travel is required during our event season (January–July), and team members must reside within reasonable proximity to a U.S. international airport or hub to accommodate frequent travel.


On average, the role involves attending approximately 6–10 regional events each year, typically lasting 3–5 days, with the possibility of 1–2 national events lasting 6–8 days. 


Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, setting up equipment, and working in a variety of environments, such as event venues, hotels, and stages. Staff members must also be comfortable sharing hotel accommodations with same-gender colleagues during event assignments.


Mock Training: All new/first year event staff are required to attend an audition and training session in Eagle, Idaho (Typically hosted January 4th–8th). Spotlight provides flights, transport, lodging, and meals. Travel may occur one day before or after the scheduled dates.
