Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing the monthly accounting cycle for the hotel portfolio and related entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting support, and inter-company billing across multiple entities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post recurring monthly journal entries, including amortization, depreciation, insurance allocations, management fees, loan-related entries, payroll entries, and accruals.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, cash, undeposited funds, and loan-related balances, and verify balances needed for scheduled auto drafts and payments.
  • Review, approve, and process AP accruals and other month-end adjustments.
  • Maintain accounts receivable activity, including payroll billing, intercompany billing, invoice preparation, payment application, and delinquency review.
  • Download, review, and record bank statement activity, interest income, transfers, fees, and loan payments.
  • Upload trial balances, save supporting files, and complete month-end balance sheet and operating statement reconciliations.
  • Review fixed asset clearing accounts, capitalize items as needed, and run depreciation entries and variance reports.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly reporting deliverables, including summary reports, loan statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Perform department financial review, identify required accruals or adjustments, and resolve outstanding issues during close.
  • Support audit, forecast, budget upload, and ad hoc accounting tasks as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, real estate, or multi-entity environments.
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting systems such as MRI, spreadsheets, and reconciliation tools.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Clear communication skills for working with property, finance, and other contacts.
