Job Summary: 

The primary function of the Assistant Superintendent is to support the Superintendent in the day-to-day field operations of assigned hotel renovation projects. This position assists with coordinating subcontractors and field personnel, maintaining project documentation and site safety, monitoring quality and schedule, and helping ensure the project is completed in accordance with contract requirements, company standards, and client expectations.


  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist the      Superintendent with day-to-day field operations and supervision of      assigned hotel renovation projects.
  • Assist with      coordinating field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and deliveries to      support project schedules and efficient jobsite operations.
  • Participate      in project hand-off meetings with the Superintendent, Project Manager,      Estimator, and other project team members to understand project scope,      specifications, schedule, and client expectations.
  • Support the      Superintendent in implementing the project schedule and monitoring      subcontractor and field staff progress against established deadlines.
  • Assist with      preparing and maintaining two-week look-ahead schedules and communicating      upcoming activities, manpower needs, and potential schedule impacts.
  • Maintain      accurate daily reports, job journals, photos, and other required project      documentation.
  • Assist with      timely and accurate submission of field reports, time records, and other      required project paperwork.
  • Help enforce      jobsite safety requirements, maintain required safety documentation, and      immediately communicate safety concerns to the Superintendent.
  • Assist with      weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, subcontractor coordination, and      required sign-in documentation.
  • Monitor      workmanship and quality, identify deficiencies, and assist with      maintaining and completing punch lists to minimize rework.
  • Coordinate      with the Superintendent, Project Manager, and Procurement team to help      ensure materials, supplies, equipment, and rentals are available when      needed.
  • Verify      deliveries and materials against project requirements and report      shortages, damage, or discrepancies to the Superintendent.
  • Assist with      daily subcontractor coordination and sequencing of work, particularly in      occupied or operational hotel environments.
  • Serve as a      field point of contact for subcontractors and vendors as directed by the      Superintendent and communicate project expectations clearly.
  • Provide      feedback to the Superintendent regarding subcontractor performance,      quality, manpower, and schedule adherence.
  • Identify      field issues, manpower concerns, conflicts, or inefficiencies and work      with the Superintendent to resolve them promptly.
  • Assist with      permits, inspections, and maintaining required jobsite documentation as      directed by the Superintendent.
  • Do not      direct or authorize work outside the contracted scope without approval;      communicate potential change-order work to the Superintendent and Project      Manager before proceeding.
  • Maintain a      professional company presence on-site and communicate respectfully with      hotel staff, guests, owners, subcontractors, vendors, and other project      stakeholders.

· Proficient in operating a computer, iPad, and phone, with the ability to quickly learn and use related software.

· Ability to support the Superintendent on assigned projects and progressively take ownership of defined areas, phases, or scopes of work.


Education Experience & Certifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or construction management coursework preferred.

· Prior construction field experience preferred; experience in hotel renovation, commercial renovation, or occupied-space construction is a plus.

· Valid Driver’s License


Physical Requirements: 

The employee may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, lift, carry, pull, grasp, climb, crawl, crouch, sit or bend over for periods without relief. The employee must be able to lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds as needed. Employees in this position must be able to climb ladders and stairs to access platforms and scaffolds, as well as walk around indoor and outdoor job sites with distances up to one mile on uneven, paved, gravel, dirt, or sandy surfaces. Employees must be able to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, and landings. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
