Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and facility support across Rise & Shine properties throughout Lane County. This role keeps properties safe, functional, clean, and well-maintained so that the individuals Rise & Shine serves and the staff who support them have environments they can rely on. 


This is a hands-on, mobile role. The Maintenance Technician travels between properties throughout Lane County, responds to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner, and performs a wide range of tasks — from minor repairs and painting to client moves, installations, and preventive maintenance.

Location: Properties throughout Lane County  

Classification: Hourly, non-exempt  

Reports to: Facilities Manager  


Essential Job Functions  

  • Complete maintenance requests, including painting, patching, caulking, basic drywall work, and minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs within your skill level and authorization.  
  • Install fixtures, shelving, appliances, hardware, and equipment; assist with moving furniture, equipment, and clients as needed.  
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and report safety concerns or repairs beyond your scope to the Facilities Manager.  
  • Use tools and protective equipment safely, and leave work areas clean and secure.  
  • Communicate completed work and open requests while maintaining professionalism, appropriate boundaries, and confidentiality in residential settings. 
Requirements

Minimum Requirements 

  • Previous maintenance, facilities, or handyman experience, including basic repairs, painting, and installations. 
  • Ability to work independently, manage tasks across multiple properties, and communicate professionally. 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for daily travel throughout Lane County. 
  • Knowledge of safe tool use and basic workplace safety practices. 
  • Ability to pass and maintain required background checks. 
  • Ability to perform the physical duties of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience maintaining multiple properties or working in residential care, human services, or intellectual and developmental disability settings. 
  • Spanish language skills or experience working with Spanish-speaking teams. 

Work environment: This field-based role includes indoor and outdoor work in varying conditions. Hours are primarily during standard business hours, with some flexibility based on maintenance needs.
