Treasury Manager
Job Description | Finance & Accounting
Location: Rochester, NY or Denver, CO. Hybrid or remote.
Reports to: Director of Corporate Finance
Position Summary
Conifer Realty is seeking a Treasury Manager to lead day-to-day treasury operations across its corporate, development, and residential property portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Finance, this role owns cash management, payment execution, bank account administration, and treasury controls in a complex multi-entity environment.
Initial Focus: Banking Transition
Conifer is moving several hundred corporate and property-level bank accounts to a new primary bank. The first few months in this role will be dedicated primarily to coordinating that transition. An account cannot close until every payment and deposit tied to it has been redirected, every outstanding check has cleared or been voided, and the account has been reconciled. Key elements include:
· Building a validated inventory of accounts by entity, property, purpose, signer, and associated cash flows, and a wave-sequenced transition plan with cutover dates.
· Opening accounts at the new bank, completing bank paperwork, signer authorizations, and system access, and closing legacy accounts only after all activity has cleared.
· Transitioning agency subsidy and housing assistance payments, which move on the agencies’ timelines and need an early start.
· Redirecting remaining flows, including resident payment channels, lockbox, mortgage and servicer debits, payroll and benefits funding, tax and escrow payments, and recurring vendor debits.
· Monitoring outstanding checks and recurring payments through the transition by partnering with AP.
· Re-establishing payment controls and bank connectivity, including positive pay, ACH filters, wire templates, user access, and the statement and file feeds our accounting systems depend on.
· Coordinating lender and legal requirements, including deposit account control agreements and security deposit account structures with their state-specific rules.
· Owning the transition tracker and stakeholder communication, with dedicated project tracking support available.
· Ensure that wire payments are not processed unless the vendor has been properly set up and approved in the ERP system.
Daily treasury operations continue throughout, so this role must be able to run a project of this size without letting the daily cash function slip.
Key Responsibilities
· Treasury operations. Manage daily cash positioning and liquidity across corporate entities and the property portfolio, including maintaining and continuously enhancing cash management workbooks to support accurate cash tracking, processing, and reporting. Execute and oversee wire, ACH, and check workflows within approval limits. Manage cash transfers, funding requests, and intercompany and advance activity. Own bank account administration, signers, user access, and portal setup. Monitor restricted cash, reserves, and escrows, reconcile banking activity, and manage banking relationships.
· Treasury accounting partnership. Work with Corporate Accounting on cash entries, intercompany and advance activity, management fee cash flows, payroll funding, and billbacks. Make sure both sides of every cash transaction are recorded accurately and on time, and that bank reconciliations tie without carryover items.
· Controls. Maintain segregation of duties, particularly between the people who can move cash and those who prepare or review bank reconciliations. Maintain treasury policies covering payment approvals, wire and ACH controls, positive pay, and bank access reviews. Support audit requests and improve control documentation.
· Systems transformation. Help design future-state treasury workflows across NetSuite, Elise, Rippling, Avid, and new banking platforms. Reduce manual workarounds, enable automated entries and integrations, and build toward a single source of truth for cash reporting.
· Team leadership. Start by working alongside the existing treasury team without disrupting operations. Assess responsibilities, staffing, onshore and offshore capacity, and process gaps, and recommend where the structure should change. Over time, take on oversight of the treasury accounting team and related security deposit banking activity.
· Partnership with FP&A. Provide the cash and banking data behind cash forecasting, liquidity visibility, and debt reporting, which FP&A and Corporate Finance own, and report regularly to the Director of Corporate Finance.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, plus five or more years of hands-on treasury, banking, or cash management experience. A prior manager title is not required, and a strong senior analyst ready to step into a management seat will be considered.
• Direct experience with a bank transition, account migration, or comparable conversion is required.
• Multi-entity experience and a solid command of banking operations, payment controls, and bank reconciliation. Real estate or property management experience preferred.
• Comfortable in an evolving environment with systems and processes still being built. This role will build structure, not inherit it.
• Able to move between planning and detailed execution, and to communicate clearly across Accounting, FP&A, and Operations.
• Experience with ERP systems, online banking platforms, and treasury management tools preferred. CTP designation is a plus, not a requirement.
