Position Summary

Are you ready to lead complex mechanical installations that keep commercial and industrial facilities running at peak performance? As an HVAC / Mechanical Project Manager, you will direct turnkey mechanical construction, boiler/chiller upgrades, piping, and HVAC replacement projects across central Illinois.


In this dynamic role, you will collaborate with our sales estimators during pre-bid and scope assembly, then take full ownership post-sale to guide resources, field crews, and subcontractors from kickoff through commissioning. You will manage multiple high-profile mechanical projects, ensuring flawless execution, high quality, and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Turnkey Mechanical Delivery: Lead assigned mechanical, HVAC, and energy infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time completion.
  • Pre-Bid & Sales Estimator Collaboration: Partner regularly with sales estimators during initial scoping and scheduling to establish clear project baselines and eliminate operational friction early.
  • Project Execution & Site Oversight: Direct daily field operations, manpower allocation, and material logistics across job sites.
  • Stakeholder & Subcontractor Leadership: Coordinate directly with owners, engineers, architects, general contractors, and trade subcontractors to maintain tight project schedules.
  • Financial & Change Management: Track job costs, manage project progress invoicing, and develop change orders and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Contractual & Safety Compliance: Rigorously enforce company and job-site safety standards, ensuring all work meets contractual conditions and code specifications.
  • Client Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with facility owners and general contractors, serving as a trusted advisor.

Qualifications & Capabilities

Required:

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC, mechanical construction, or mechanical service project management.
  • Technical Depth: Comprehensive understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, piping, and job-site operations.
  • Communication & Leadership: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong leadership capabilities.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as both a team player and an independent leader.
  • Organization & Time Management: High capacity to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Problem Solving & Negotiation: Proven conflict-resolution skills and creative problem-solving ability.
  • Software Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace products.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree with 2+ years of construction project management experience in HVAC or mechanical construction, OR a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to kneel, squat, twist, bend, and reach regularly.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements, use hand tools with dexterity, and grasp/manipulate small objects.
  • Ability to correctly wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by site conditions.
  • Ability to regularly stand, sit, talk, hear, and operate phones and computers.

Anticipated Salary Range & Benefits

  • Salary: $70,000 - $100,000+ (commensurate with experience)
