Food Service Aide/ Dietary Ambassador

  Position Summary

The Food Service Aide/Dietary Ambassador supports patient and resident meal service, dishwashing, sanitation, stocking, food preparation, meal delivery, and café operations. This position works closely with cooks and clinical staff to help ensure meals are delivered safely and efficiently and that patient meal choices follow the documented diet order.

Patient and Resident Meal Support

• Prepare resident meal carts for scheduled meal service.

• Check with Emergency Department nursing staff to determine whether patients require meals.

• Verify each patient’s diet order before offering meal options.

• Offer the breakfast meal first and, if declined, offer appropriate menu choices that follow the patient’s diet order.

• Prepare shakes for S.N.F. residents according to the established schedule.

• Deliver meals and transport designated meal carts to patient and resident areas as assigned.

Café and Kitchen Support

• Operate the P.O.S. system during assigned meal periods.

• Assist cooks with fryer operations and other food-preparation tasks as needed.

• Wash dishes and provide dishroom coverage as assigned.

• Prepare snack packs and support stocking of food and beverage areas.

Food Safety, Cleaning, and Sanitation

• Prepare sanitizer buckets for kitchen staff and change them according to the established schedule.

• Start and operate the dish machine.

• Place kitchen mats at the beginning of the shift.

• Complete required temperature and sanitizer logs.

• Complete assigned daily cleaning duties.

• Scrape plates and trays, wash dishes, and sanitize meal carts and kitchen equipment.

Stocking and Inventory Support

• Put away dry-storage items and other deliveries as assigned.

• Check and restock lobby snacks.

• Stock the E.R. and S.N.F. daily.

• Check warehouse inventory as needed.

• Stock snack carts and cupboards.

• Rotate stock and check expiration dates.

End-of-Shift Expectations

• Check with the supervisor or designated lead before leaving at the end of the shift.

• Complete assigned tray scraping, dishwashing, sanitation, stocking, and meal-cart duties before departure.



Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities for a Dishwasher


Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices

Knowledge of proper dishwashing and cleaning procedures

Ability to operate commercial dishwashers and cleaning equipment

Ability to properly use cleaning chemicals and follow safety instructions

Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a busy kitchen

Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks

Ability to lift, carry, and organize dishes, cookware, and supplies

Strong attention to cleanliness and detail

Ability to follow instructions and established procedures

Ability to work well as part of a team

Good communication and cooperation with kitchen staff

Dependable, punctual, and responsible

Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area

Ability to handle pressure and prioritize tasks during busy periods
