Quality Engineer I
Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

  

Provides inspection service to support manufacturing/engineering requests.  Ensures adequate and accurate inspection for incoming components and special requests.  Coordinates timely disposition of rejected raw materials.  Supervises quality technicians and parts inspectors. Must be familiar with IATF16949 and A2LA. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  

  1. Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
  2. Effectively interact with Production and Development teams to maintain product supply and help introduce new products.
  3. Working with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers ensuring compliance with national and international standards and legislation, considering the application of environmental and health and safety standards.
  4. Defining quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff.
  5. Develop and maintain controls and documentation procedures.
  6. Liaising with customers’ auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications.
  7. Establishing standards of service for customers or clients.
  8. Monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.
  9. Organize and manage quality assurance function in close cooperation with the customers and with the Company’s Management team.
  10. Identifying relevant quality-related training needs and delivering training.
  11. Collating and analyzing performance data and charts against defined parameters.
  12. Ensuring tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary.
  13. Manage audits and work with teams to ensure compliance with the IATF16949 and A2LA.
  14. Working with technical staff in carrying out tests and checks.
  15. Writing technical and management systems reports.
  16. Work with management to bring together staff of different disciplines and driving the group to plan, formulate and agree comprehensive quality procedures.
  17. Work with management to maintain the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes, and finished goods.
  18. Assessing the product specifications of the company and its suppliers and comparing with customer requirements.
  19. Perform internal audits.
  20. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*:

Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred* plus a minimum of three years supervisory and quality experience required.  Demonstrable knowledge of optical inspection machine, calipers, micrometers, indicators, optical comparator, and height gage required. Regulatory and Quality System requirements/standards knowledge required.  Requires excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with attention to detail.  Must be computer literate and have ability to manage multiple priorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work will take place in a combination office/shop environment.  Employee may be required to work weekends, holidays, and be on-call on occasion.  While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to mechanical or chemical processes requiring the use of personnel protective equipment.
