Position Summary

The Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard, shop, and warehouse areas. This position manages inventory, material movement, deliveries, and yard personnel to ensure materials, equipment, and supplies are organized, accurate, and available to support field operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day yard operations and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
• Supervise shop personnel, welders, and yard employees.
• Track and maintain inventory levels of fencing materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Coordinate incoming and outgoing material shipments.
• Oversee truck deliveries, pickups, and vendor supply drop-offs.
• Ensure accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of materials.
• Coordinate material transfers between company locations and job sites.
• Conduct routine inventory counts and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the yard, warehouse, and storage areas.
• Assist with planning and preparing materials for upcoming projects.
• Monitor equipment and report repair or maintenance needs.
• Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
• Work closely with operations, project managers, and field crews to ensure material availability.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction, fencing, warehouse, yard, or inventory management preferred.
• Experience leading or supervising employees.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and communication.
• Ability to lift materials and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to work in an outdoor yard environment.
