General Summary: The Director of Safety & Compliance leads the Company’s environmental, health, safety, regulatory, and clean-fuel compliance programs. This position ensures compliance with applicable requirements, manages organizational risk, oversees required training and reporting, and promotes a strong culture of safety and compliance. The Director serves as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies, auditors, consultants, and other external partners and works closely with Company leadership and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance programs. 

· Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA requirements and oversee safety training, inspections, incident prevention, corrective actions, and the Company Safety Committee. 

· Maintain environmental permits, required reporting, recordkeeping, and compliance programs related to air, water, hazardous materials, and other applicable regulations. 

· Oversee regulatory inspections, audits, agency communications, and corrective actions. 

· Manage applicable clean-fuel compliance programs, including RFS2/RINs, 45Z, LCFS, carbon-intensity documentation, and third-party verification. 

· Monitor regulatory changes and advise leadership regarding compliance risks and requirements associated with operational changes, projects, and business initiatives. 

· Develop and maintain compliance procedures, internal controls, records, training requirements, and reporting calendars. 

· Partner with operations, engineering, accounting, legal, insurance, and other departments to support safe and compliant operations. 

· Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, auditors, consultants, vendors, and other external partners. 

· Supervise and develop assigned safety and compliance personnel.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

The successful individual should demonstrate:

• Strong knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements within an industrial or manufacturing environment. 
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements, environmental permitting and reporting, and applicable clean-fuel compliance programs. 
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate requirements into practical policies and procedures. 
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 
• Ability to manage multiple regulatory programs, audits, projects, and deadlines. 
• Sound judgment and commitment to continuous improvement in safety and compliance.

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational Safety, Compliance, or a related field preferred, with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in environmental, health, safety, regulatory, or clean-fuel compliance.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training required. Experience within ethanol production, renewable fuels, industrial manufacturing, or a similarly regulated environment strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform work in both office and industrial plant environments. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights of up to 150 feet, and stand or walk for extended periods as necessary to perform inspections, audits, training, and other job responsibilities.

Working Conditions:  Work is performed in both a standard office environment and an industrial facility. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, dust, chemicals, elevated work areas, and heavy moving machinery. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
