Description

We are HALO! We connect people and brands to create unforgettable, meaningful, and lasting experiences that build brand engagement and loyalty for our over 60,000 clients globally. Our nearly 2,000 employees and 1,000 Account Executives located in 40+ sales offices across the United States are the reason HALO is the global leader in branded merchandise, uniform programs, and recognition and incentive solutions.

HALO is looking for a Technical Sales Strategist who will close the gap between what clients need, what AEs are trying to sell, what HALO’s systems can support, and what Halo can profitably operate.  The strategist will be a bridge between Commercial, Product, Technology, Operations, Programs, and the client. The role will help Halo sell with greater clarity and discipline-making sure that client needs are understood, technical capabilities are represented accurately, economics are visible, and commitments can be delivered. The Technical Sales Strategist will work closely with Executive and Sales Leadership to set the long term HALO technical commercial strategy.

Responsibilities:

Lead Commercial & Technical Discovery

  •  Partner with AEs and account leaders to clarify the client’s business objectives, operating model, users, workflows, pain points, and measures of success.
  • Translate ambiguous client requests into a clear statement of the commercial problem to solve.
  • Identify the real technical and operational requirements behind a request, including integrations, data, reporting, fulfillment, inventory, security, service levels, and change-management needs.
  • Establish clear alignment with the client on what Halo can do today, what may be configurable, what requires investment, and what is not currently supported.
  • Help the commercial team determine whether Halo is ready to sell a proposed technical or managed-service solution.

Shape the right Solution

  • Evaluate whether a client problem is best addressed through an existing Halo capability, a process redesign, a partner solution, a product enhancement, or a focused implementation effort.
  • Work closely with Product and Technology to assess feasibility, dependencies, sequencing, and reusable platform implications.
  • Help define the minimum viable solution, phased path, operating requirements, and decision points rather than defaulting to a bespoke build.
  • Create solution briefs, capability maps, operating-model views, business cases, and decision documents that can be understood by both executives and delivery teams.
  • Identify patterns across opportunities and help convert one-off learnings into repeatable solutions.
  • Define the economics of technical solutions and manage to full P&L impact

Support Commercial Execution

  • Join priority client and prospect conversations as a strategic technical and operating-model partner to the AE.
  • Help AEs explain complex capabilities in clear business language and connect technology to client outcomes.
  • Support proposals, RFPs, executive presentations, business cases, and solution narratives.
  • Help the commercial team set realistic expectations about scope, timing, dependencies, economics, and risk.
  • Make the trade-offs visible when a proposed solution affects margin, cost-to-serve, implementation capacity, or ongoing support.
  • Enable the existing sales team to absorb more of the selling motion over time; this role should not become a permanent substitute for commercial ownership by the AE.

Connect the Solution to Delivery

  • Establish clear handoffs from opportunity shaping into Product, Implementation, Operations, and Program Account Management.
  • Define acceptance criteria, decision rights, assumptions, risks, and ownership before a solution is sold or committed.
  • Help create dedicated cross-functional pods for problems that cannot be solved by one function or overnight.
  • Stay close enough to priority implementations to validate that what was sold matches what is being delivered and operated.
  • Feed recurring field insights back into Product, Process Design, and the Halo Operating System roadmap.

Improve HALO's Operating Model

  • Help identify when recurring client problems represent a broader systems, process, data, or organizational issue.
  • Bring a P&L and cost-to-serve perspective to solution decisions, including the impact of manual work, support requirements, integrations, fulfillment, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Help establish clearer rules for which opportunities receive dedicated technical support and which should use standard or self-service capabilities.
  • Partner with Process Design to simplify workflows, reduce handoffs, and clarify roles across Commercial, Product, Technology, and Operations.
  • Help Halo make disciplined decisions on opportunities such as enterprise programs, client operating systems, stores, OMS, supplier integrations, and other technology-enabled services.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in a combination of technical sales, solutions consulting, product strategy, business operations, implementation, consulting, enterprise technology, or process design.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand a client’s business and translate ambiguous needs into a structured solution and decision path.
  • Strong commercial judgment, including the ability to evaluate revenue, gross margin, contribution, investment, risk, and cost-to-serve.
  • Fluency in business process mapping, systems thinking, integrations, data flows, APIs, workflow design, and enterprise software concepts.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Technology, Operations, and Sales.
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise opportunities, RFPs, managed services, platforms, implementations, or technology-enabled operating models.
  • Strong executive communication skills; able to explain technical trade-offs to business leaders and commercial trade-offs to technical teams.
  • Excellent written communication and ability to create concise solution briefs, business cases, operating-model documents, and executive presentations.
  • Comfort operating without complete information, challenging assumptions, and making practical recommendations.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings, working sessions, and internal operating reviews.

Preferred Experience

  • Branded merchandise, promotional products, e-commerce, procurement, fulfillment, supply chain, recognition, uniforms, or related services.
  • Experience with order management, client portals, supplier ecosystems, workflow automation, AI-enabled tools, or systems integration.
  • Experience in a forward-deployed, solutions engineering, technical sales, management consulting, or enterprise transformation role.
  • Experience taking repeated client-specific needs and turning them into scalable product or operating capabilities.
  • Experience developing both software and AI forward or agentic solutions in tandem with commercial teams
