General Summary: Create technical documentation and manuals for custom designed products and test system solutions. Responsible for highly technical documentation including user and service manuals; hardware and software installation, operation, and programming guides. Position includes creating marketing materials for the business development team that may include Visio diagrams, product data sheets and conceptual guides to demonstrate group engineering expertise.
Essential Job Function:
- Prepare clear, concise, and technically correct documentation and/or manuals according to Keysight quality & design standards. Ensure all safety related information is up to date and included in all customer facing guides.
- Create and update technical documents, including user manuals, maintenance manuals, assembly instructions, and engineering specifications. Maintain documentation that requires frequent revisioning.
- Shadow technical teams for system and switch matrices to gain a working knowledge of product(s) or solution(s) being delivered. Develop visual aids, such as diagrams, charts, and schematics, to enhance the clarity of documents.
- Create proposal generation materials for the business development team that may include Visio diagrams, product data sheets and conceptual guides to demonstrate group engineering expertise.
- General proposal editing is frequently needed to meet DoD and commercial requirements for contract proposals. The technical writer needs to regularly review and adjust proposal documents to align with the specific standards and criteria necessary for securing contracts from these entities.
- Write reports and record data on testing techniques, laboratory equipment, and specifications to be included in user manuals.
- Translate pertinent manufacturing information from Integrated Statements of Work (ISOW); Application Test Procedures (ATP), and specifications to be included in user manuals. Maintain system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment for internal manufacturing teams.
- Demonstrate and apply our internal and external company values (aka "Anchors") by working positively and collaboratively with team members and customers to form good partnerships and great teams while innovating, eliminating the non-essential and improving.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent written communication skills for translating complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documents, including the development of illustrations as necessary.
- Ability to re-cast technical information into task-oriented procedures. Demonstrated capability to create documentation based on evolving product designs and strong planning skills to optimize time usage when designs are changing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Visio, and Access Database).
- Strong collaboration skills, with proven ability to work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to gather necessary information and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Proficient at communicating technical information clearly, concisely, accurately, and in a manner appropriate to the audience, including the development of illustrations as necessary; ability to re-cast technical information as task-oriented procedures
- Ability to create documentation based on product designs that are evolving; planning skills to determine the best use of time when designs are changing.
- Meticulous attention to detail is required.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 4-5 years relevant experience in technical documentation preferred
- Experience with AS9100D standard
