Materials Clerk – Driver

Location: Wylie, TX
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00–$21.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday: 6:00 am–5:00 pm
• Saturday: 6:00 am–12:00 pm, approximately 2 Saturdays per month
• Primary shift priority is Wylie, with support for other facilities as needed.

About the Position

Cates Control Systems is seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Materials Clerk – Driver to join our growing team in Wylie, TX.

This position combines warehouse, inventory, forklift, and driving responsibilities. The Driver - Materials Clerk will help keep production running smoothly by managing materials, preparing shipments, and safely transporting parts, equipment, and supplies between Wylie and Plano locations.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Forklift experience is required, and CDL or commercial driving experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Driving & Material Transportation

• Safely operate the company truck between Wylie and Plano locations.
• Make pickups and deliveries as needed, including pickups for Cates supplies.
• Safely load and unload the company truck using a pallet jack or forklift.
• Palletize, organize, and properly secure parts on pallets, carts, and crates using shrink wrap, straps, safety bars, and other appropriate methods.
• Report any safety or maintenance concerns with the company truck.
• Submit receipts related to company truck expenses, supplies, fuel, and authorized purchases.
• Follow all company safety procedures and applicable transportation regulations.

Materials & Warehouse

• Maintain clean, organized, and accurate inventory, receiving, and WIP areas.
• Pull, issue, stage, and prepare parts and materials for production.
• Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming shipments.
• Operate a forklift to prepare shipments, unload deliveries, and move materials throughout the warehouse.
• Complete inventory transactions accurately within the ERP system.
• Store and organize materials by location and job number.
• Prepare outgoing sales orders, pull line items, and print packing slips.
• Research and resolve inventory discrepancies and material shortages.
• Conduct weekly cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Assist with general warehouse upkeep and other material duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 1+ year of warehouse, inventory, materials, shipping/receiving, logistics, or manufacturing experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Forklift operating experience required
• Company truck or delivery driving experience preferred
• CDL or commercial driving experience is a strong plus
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
• Ability to safely operate a pallet jack and properly secure materials for transportation
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and handling materials throughout the workday
• Basic computer and data-entry skills
