Buffalo Builders is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Traveling Project Engineer (PE) to oversee construction crews working on projects throughout multiple states. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who can ensure quality, safety, compliance, and operational excellence while supporting field teams across various job sites.

Position Summary

The Traveling Project  Engineer (PE) will be responsible for providing field leadership, technical oversight, and quality control on active construction projects. This individual will travel frequently to project locations to monitor daily operations, review project documentation, verify compliance with plans and specifications, and ensure crews meet company expectations and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel to construction sites in multiple states to oversee field operations.

• Review and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and project documentation.

• Ensure crews are performing work according to project requirements, engineering standards, and company expectations.

• Conduct daily site inspections and document field observations.

• Monitor work quality, productivity, and safety compliance.

• Identify, document, and report change events, field issues, and potential project impacts.

• Lead and participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings.

• Prepare and submit weekly project reports and field logs.

• Create and maintain daily video logs (vlogs) documenting project progress, challenges, and key observations.

• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, clients, and subcontractors to resolve field issues.

• Verify that all work complies with applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.

• Provide technical guidance and support to field personnel as needed.

• Assist in maintaining project schedules, quality standards, and budget objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum 5 years of construction, engineering, or field supervision experience.

• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Experience documenting and managing field changes and construction issues.

• Strong understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.

• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout multiple states.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction projects.

• Previous experience supervising field crews or managing construction operations.

• Knowledge of project scheduling, quality assurance, and construction documentation processes.
