- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Three to five years of Human Resources experience, including at least two years focused on employee relations and workplace investigations.
- Working knowledge of employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA and FLSA, as well as Human Resources best practices.
- Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain objective and reach well-supported conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, professional documentation.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
- High integrity and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel; experience with an HRIS, preferably Paylocity, is a plus.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to communities across the Valley up to 80% of the time, with the remaining time spent at Mark-Taylor’s corporate office in Scottsdale.
In this role, you will
- Serve as a point of contact for employees and leaders regarding employee relations concerns, performance matters, disciplinary actions and policy interpretation.
- Conduct prompt, thorough and impartial workplace investigations, including interviewing witnesses, gathering and evaluating evidence, documenting findings, and presenting recommendations to Human Resources leadership.
- Coach and guide leaders through performance and conduct matters, including documentation, performance improvement plans and progressive discipline.
- Advise employees and leaders on Human Resources policies, procedures and employment laws to promote consistent application and reduce organizational risk.
- Review and prepare corrective action documentation and separation recommendations for accuracy, consistency and compliance.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records, track employee relations trends, and provide regular reporting and insights to Human Resources leadership.
- Identify recurring concerns and recommend proactive solutions, including policy updates, leader training and communication improvements.
- Serve as an effective two-way communication resource between community teams and corporate Human Resources.
- Support retention and engagement efforts by helping address workplace concerns early and fostering a positive work environment.
- Support Human Resources projects and initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.
