Role & Responsibilities
CyKor is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to provide NetOps and Tier 3 engineering support for the client enterprise network modernization efforts. This position will support operational sustainment and troubleshooting as SD-WAN and Zero Trust capabilities transition from pilot and deployment activities into full-rate production.
The Senior Network Engineer will serve as an escalation point for complex network incidents, deployment issues, configuration problems, and interoperability challenges across the federal enterprise. The role will work closely with architecture, automation, provisioning, integration, cybersecurity, project delivery, and Government NetOps teams to restore services, identify root causes, and ensure issues identified during deployment are incorporated into future configurations and engineering standards.
- Provide Tier 3 technical support for enterprise SD-WAN and associated network infrastructure.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved through Tier 1/Tier 2 operational support.
- Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, SD-WAN, WAN connectivity, VPN, firewall, and network-performance issues.
- Support troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, SD-WAN controllers, and related enterprise network components.
- Perform root-cause analysis and develop corrective actions for recurring or systemic network issues.
- Support newly deployed shore and cutter sites during installation, activation, validation, and transition to operations.
- Coordinate with provisioning and integration engineers to resolve configuration and deployment discrepancies.
- Validate network configurations, routing behavior, connectivity, performance, and operational readiness.
- Support incident, problem, and change-management activities and maintain accurate technical records.
- Develop and maintain troubleshooting procedures, knowledge articles, escalation procedures, and lessons learned.
- Identify recurring operational issues and provide feedback to architecture and automation teams for engineering or automation improvements.
- Assist with configuration changes, software upgrades, patching, STIG remediation, and other approved maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with Government technical leads, cybersecurity personnel, field technicians, vendors, and other contractors during troubleshooting and restoration activities.
- Support operational metrics, ticket trending, backlog management, and identification of systemic network risks.
- Participate in technical reviews, incident calls, deployment readiness reviews, and post-installation validation as required.
Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award with an expected start date in October 2026.
- 8+ years of progressively responsible network engineering experience, including senior-level enterprise network operations or Tier 3 support.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise routing and switching technologies.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex Layer 2/Layer 3 network issues.
- Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and enterprise WAN architectures.
- Experience supporting large, distributed enterprise networks.
- Experience performing advanced troubleshooting, packet analysis, root-cause analysis, and technical remediation.
- Ability to interpret network diagrams, configurations, logs, monitoring data, and engineering documentation.
- Experience operating within formal incident, change, configuration, and problem-management processes.
- Strong technical documentation and customer communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple engineering and operational teams.
- Active Secret clearance.
