Garden Assistant
Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with general garden and landscape maintenance including pruning, weeding, mulching, hand watering and general clean-up
  • Operate groundskeeping and landscaping tools, such as clippers and pruners, safely
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices, including planting, growing techniques, and soil management
  • Assist with planting new flora, transplanting existing plants, and removing invasive or unhealthy vegetation

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Skilled in using hand tools such as pruners, shovels, rakes, and gardening shears
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Excellent communication skills for team collaboration and communication
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with staff and visitors
Requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Must be able to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb, reach, walk, kneel, bend, grasp and perform repetitive motions with adequate visual acuity and hearing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job operates outdoors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions including sun, wind and rain as well as dust, various plants and insects.

Salary Description
$19-$21/hour
