Kitting
Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accurately pick and prepare component parts according to work orders, pull sheets, and production requirements.

• Review daily dispatch reports to identify and prioritize kitting assignments based on production schedules.

• Gather and verify all necessary documentation, materials, and containers prior to beginning the kitting process.

• Properly receive, organize, consolidate, and put away component inventory in designated storage locations.

• Follow First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices and optimize storage space by consolidating or downsizing containers when appropriate.

• Verify part numbers, quantities, and locations to ensure accuracy throughout the picking and packaging process.

• Properly package and identify completed kits to maintain component integrity and ensure ease of use during subsequent production processes.

• Accurately document inventory movements, picking locations, discrepancies, and other required information on applicable forms and within the inventory management system.

• Review completed paperwork for accuracy and make necessary corrections in accordance with established procedures.

• Identify and communicate inventory shortages, discrepancies, damaged components, or other issues that may impact production.

• Transport and stage completed kits in designated production areas to support timely assembly operations.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company housekeeping and safety standards.

• Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, as trained and authorized

• Collaborate with team members, production personnel, and management to maintain workflow and meet daily operational goals.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and company objectives.


Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience in manufacturing, warehousing, inventory control, or material handling preferred but not required.

• Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow work orders, pull sheets, and written instructions.

• Basic math skills, including counting, addition, subtraction, and quantity verification.

• Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on inventory and order accuracy.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing production demands.

• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn company inventory management software.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

• Forklift experience preferred; must be willing and able to complete company-required equipment training.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical lifting devices utilized when appropriate.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to typical industrial noise, equipment, and varying temperatures.

• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)


ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Conform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs and procedures.

• Conform to all State of Indiana laws and regulations.

• Report any environmental concerns to supervisor, Environmental Management Representative, or the Plant manager.
