Job Overview

The Director of Clinical Operations leads clinical operations across our multi-site specialty practice, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality patient care. This role develops clinical leaders, strengthens workflows and staffing, improves patient access and performance, and supports the continued growth of the practice.

 

Duties and Responsibilities


Clinical Operations and Patient Care

 · Ensure clinical operations consistently support safe, efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care

· Monitor patient flow, access, throughput, scheduling efficiency, clinical capacity, and operational bottlenecks

· Identify barriers affecting patient access and develop measurable improvement plans

· Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix based on patient volume, provider schedules, clinical needs, and business requirements

· Establish consistent clinical and operational workflows across locations

· Monitor clinical incidents, patient safety concerns, and operational risks and ensure timely corrective action

· Partner with clinical leadership to promote adherence to organizational policies and applicable regulatory requirements

· Support initiatives designed to improve patient satisfaction, communication, service recovery, and overall patient experience

· Travel between practice locations as necessary to provide leadership, evaluate operations, and support teams


Leadership and Workforce Management

· Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention strategies for clinical teams

· Develop managers and supervisors into strong, accountable operational leaders 

· Establish meaningful performance expectations and conduct regular leadership touch points

· Address performance concerns promptly and consistently in partnership with Human Resources and organizational leadership

· Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement

· Monitor staffing productivity, overtime, vacancies, turnover, and workforce trends

· Develop staffing models that balance patient needs, employee capacity, provider schedules, quality, and financial responsibility


Strategic Growth & Change Management

· Lead operational implementation of new clinical programs, services, locations, technologies, and organizational initiatives

· Lead change management efforts and ensure effective communication throughout the organization

· Identify opportunities to expand clinical capacity, improve access, increase efficiency, and strengthen patient services

· Evaluate operational processes for scalability as the organization grows

· Ensure new initiatives are implemented consistently and achieve operational objectives


Performance Management & Accountability

· Establish clear goals and measurable expectations for clinical leaders 

· Conduct regular operational meetings and reviews with managers and supervisors

· Recognize successful performance and reinforce accountability throughout the leadership structure

· Escalate significant operational, staffing, compliance, financial, or patient safety concerns to executive leadership as appropriate

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred

· 5-10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, preferably in a multi-site physician practice, specialty practice, ambulatory care setting, or procedural environment

· Experience in urology, procedural medicine, or another specialty practice strongly preferred 

· Demonstrated experience leading managers, supervisors, and multidisciplinary clinical teams

· Demonstrated experience managing operations across multiple locations or departments 

· Experience developing staffing models and implementing operational improvements

· Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory, compliance, quality, and patient safety requirements

· Experience using operational and performance data to identify trends, address deficiencies, and drive improvement

· Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment

· Ability to build strong relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, administrative teams, and executive leadership

· Expertise in workflow optimization, process improvement, and operational standardization

· Ability to communicate organizational priorities clearly and consistently across multiple locations
