DoW SkillBridge Contracts Intern
Location: Orlando, Florida | On-site

Position Overview

Mass Virtual is seeking a DoW SkillBridge Contracts Intern to participate in hands-on training alongside our Contracts team supporting federal and commercial contracting environments.

This internship is designed for transitioning service members interested in developing civilian skills in government contracts, acquisition, procurement, or related business operations. Through supervised training and practical assignments, the participant will learn contract administration, documentation, compliance, internal coordination, and the business processes used to support government customers.

Training Activities and Learning Objectives

Under the guidance of the Contracts team, the participant may:

  • Learn contract administration processes throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Review, organize, and maintain contract files, correspondence, modifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Learn to track contract requirements, deliverables, deadlines, modifications, and administrative actions.
  • Assist with reviewing and organizing solicitations, requests for proposals (RFPs), statements of work (SOWs), task orders, and other contractual documents.
  • Practice contract data entry, recordkeeping, reporting, and document management.
  • Research contract requirements, clauses, policies, and federal acquisition requirements under team supervision.
  • Learn to maintain accurate and complete contract records in accordance with company procedures and applicable requirements.
  • Assist with preparing and routing contractual correspondence and documentation for review.
  • Observe and assist with coordination among Finance, Business Development, Program Management, Operations, Security, and other internal teams.
  • Support internal process documentation and continuous improvement activities.
  • Learn how contractual requirements translate into financial, technical, operational, and program responsibilities.
  • Develop an understanding of the federal contracting environment and the role of a Contracts organization within a government contractor.

Training activities will align with the approved training plan and the participant’s experience and learning objectives. Assignments will be supervised and reviewed by the Contracts team. The participant will not independently approve, execute, or bind Mass Virtual to contractual commitments.

Required Qualifications

  • Current U.S. service member eligible to participate in the DoW SkillBridge program, subject to applicable military requirements and command approval.
  • Experience supporting government contracting, acquisition, procurement, purchasing, contract administration, or a closely related function through military or civilian service.
  • Experience reviewing, preparing, administering, or tracking contractual or acquisition-related documentation, such as statements of work, task orders, purchase orders, modifications, solicitations, or formal correspondence.
  • Working knowledge of government acquisition processes and familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and/or Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
  • Experience working within established regulatory, policy, procedural, or compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to review requirements, identify discrepancies, conduct research, and recognize when clarification or supervisory guidance is needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and documentation requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks under supervision while coordinating effectively with multiple teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to handle business-sensitive information professionally and follow applicable information-handling requirements.
  • Ability to participate on-site in Orlando, Florida, for the approved training period. Applicants must reside locally or be willing to relocate.

Relevant military experience in acquisition, contracting, procurement, logistics, program management, administration, supply, finance, legal support, or government program operations may satisfy the experience requirements when it included responsibility for contracts, acquisition activities, documentation, compliance, or related government business processes.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is beneficial but not required:

  • Federal contract or subcontract administration.
  • Support of contracts within a government contractor or military acquisition environment.
  • Interpretation of FAR, DFARS, contract clauses, or other federal acquisition requirements.
  • Review or support of solicitations, RFPs, contract modifications, or other formal contractual actions.
  • Maintenance of contract files, trackers, deliverables, or compliance documentation.
  • Coordination of contractual requirements across Finance, Program Management, Business Development, Operations, Security, or Legal.
  • Use of contract management, procurement, ERP, or document management systems.
  • Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

The ideal participant is organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with documentation and deadlines. They can interpret requirements, ask questions, identify discrepancies, receive feedback, and communicate effectively across multiple functions.

This internship provides practical exposure to the civilian contracts profession while helping transitioning service members build on skills developed during military service in a government contracting and technology environment.
