Direct Support Professional (DSP) & Transporter

Location: Winter Springs, FL

Employment Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Schedule: Sunday–Thursday / Flexible 8-hour shift between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Pay: $16.50 per hour, ($34,320.00annually) with higher compensation based on experience and education. 


About the Position

IMPOWER is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join The Village Transitional Housing Program. This position provides hands-on support, supervision, transportation, and guidance to young adults as they develop independent living skills, pursue educational and employment goals, and work toward greater independence and self-sufficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and supervision to young adults and help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive living environment.
  • Teach and reinforce independent living skills, including communication, organization, decision-making, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and household responsibilities.
  • Assist residents with employment and educational goals, including job searches, applications, school enrollment, and tutoring.
  • Plan and facilitate recreational, educational, and group activities that promote skill development, positive peer interactions, and personal growth.
  • Safely transport residents to school, employment, appointments, shopping, recreational activities, and other approved locations using company vehicles.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, behavioral concerns, conflicts, and crisis situations using approved intervention and verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Assist with resident move-ins and move-outs and help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly program environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in child welfare, social services, human services, behavioral health, residential services, education, or a related setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, planning, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all applicable pre-employment requirements, which may include Level II background screening, local law enforcement checks, drug screening, verification of education and credentials, and E-Verify and drug screening. 


A valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) are required as applicable to the position.
