Position Summary:


This position works cooperatively with Carroll school nurses, staff, parents, and students to ensure that student medical needs are met on an acute and ongoing basis through per diem coverage of health offices on any of three campuses or attending off-campus trips to support student health needs.


This is a temporary, per-diem role for the 2025-2026 school year. 


Responsibilities:

  • Assessment, triage and treatment of acute illness, injury and emergencies involving students while adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and the guidelines of care established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
  • Management and administration of medications as directed by Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations.
  • Communication with parents/guardians, faculty/staff and healthcare providers as needed to ensure the health and safety of Carroll students.
  • Serve as an intermediary between the school, home, primary care providers, medical specialists and health and social agencies regarding the health status of students and their needs.
  • Interpret medical evaluations to students, parents, and school personnel and provide an understanding of implications for the educational performance of students.
  • Assist with implementation of school policies to comply with established health regulations.
  • In the event that it is needed, work with heads of divisions, teachers and other support staff in providing appropriate physical classroom accommodations for students, such as special placement, special equipment, and/or assistive devices.
Requirements
  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts. 
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts in a child health, community health or other relevant clinical nursing setting preferred.
  • Prior school nurse experience preferred.
  • Fluent and/or comfortable working with an electronic database system.
  • Current CPR and AED certification and current Medication Administration and Delegation in MA Schools certification.

Compensation: $45/hr
