HR/EPeC Generalist

Position Purpose:
Working closely with the Director of Equity, People & Culture and Administration, this position supports supervisors and staff in a number of EPeC related areas. This position is responsible for maintaining and improving many of the critical day-to-day processes of the department, including recruiting, onboarding, HRIS coordination and maintenance, benefits, absence management, and back-up reception duties. The Generalist is responsible for providing the highest level of service possible to our colleagues, volunteers, clients, and community.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Full-time, hourly, & in-person role based in Barre, VT.
- Starting pay between $54,376 and $73,568 based on relevant years of experience

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a culture that enables the organization and our people to be successful
- Build credibility with leaders by demonstrating an understanding of the Vermont Foodbank operations, strategy and challenges, aligning short and long-term people goals with the strategic direction
- Assist with recruiting needs to include: active candidate sourcing; posting jobs internally & externally, centering DEI goals; communicate with candidates, supervisors and search committees; schedule interviews; create and distribute interview questions; supporting supervisors and committees during the process.
- Complete DMV and DCF/AHS checks as necessary.
- Ensures accurate job description is complete and available in HRIS.
- Assist with onboarding process to include: managing documentation and workflow in HRIS; complete I9 eligibility requirements; work with IT to set-up new employee.
- Absence Management to include: promptly file FMLA, worker’s comp, STD/LTD claims; provide employee and supervisor information on process and follow-up; maintain OSHA log and annual filings.
- Benefits Management to include: support annual open enrollment events; assist in monthly reconciliation of benefits invoices; coordinate 403(b) quarterly meetings and annual audit; assist Director of Administration in any benefits claims issues.
- Assist with payroll process including time card accuracy and serve as backup for payroll processing.
- Support HRIS data management to ensure employee records are accurate and up to date, and assist with reporting functions.
- Assists in organizing and planning for meetings, events, learning opportunities.
- Assist with maintaining files, charts, lists, etc… that help with internal staff communication and transparency
- Back-up admin associate and participate as a valued member of the EPeC team by attending team meetings and helping where needed, as assigned.
- Works cooperatively and able to communicate with staff and volunteers to support the mission of the Foodbank to meet and sustain Foodbank goals
- Positively contribute to an organizational culture of safe and secure food handling, warehousing and distribution
- The Foodbank relies on volunteers every day to fulfill our mission. All Foodbank employees must support our culture of philanthropy by treating every volunteer with appreciation and respect
- This position will occasionally require you to travel to other Foodbank locations and to attend required meetings, trainings, etc. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
- Continually evaluate established policies and procedures, and update or modify them as necessary
- This position is regularly exposed to organization-wide confidential information: including but not limited to: financial, personnel, volunteer and vendor. A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
- Remain up-to-date in the field through continuing education opportunities
- In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, Vermont Foodbank is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all of its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.

Skills/Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities an individual needs in order to perform this job successfully.
Education and/or Experience:
- 0-2 years of experience and/or education gained in business, administration, HR, or related field.Strong customer service orientation and extensive phone contact experience required.
- Payroll processing experience or interest in learning, preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of people-related best practices and demonstrated success working as a strategic partner
- Ability to proactively identify and diagnose recruiting needs and deliver relevant solutions
- Ability to prioritize and deliver results against a work plan in a fast-paced environment, giving attention to detail even under high pressure situations
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Good communication skills using a variety of resources (e-mail, social media, in-person, etc.)
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Familiarity with SurveyMonkey or other Survey tools.
Language Skills:
- Outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills
Technical/Computer Skills:
- Computer proficiency in the MS Office Suite and ability to learn emerging technologies quickly is required experience in managing an HRIS or ATS is preferred
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
- A valid Driver’s License.
- 3-year motor vehicle report (MVR) showing a clean driving record
