Business Administration Manager
Splintek, Inc. | Lenexa, Kansas

Splintek, Inc., the company behind SleepRight products, is seeking a detail-oriented Business Administration Manager to take ownership of daily accounting and administrative responsibilities within our small manufacturing company.

This hands-on role combines accounts receivable, accounts payable, detailed customer account reconciliations, general journal entries, HR support, and customer service backup. The ideal candidate enjoys the variety of working in a small company, investigates discrepancies thoroughly, and follows responsibilities through to completion.

This position works closely with our fractional Accounting Manager, HR Director, and other team members.

Key responsibilities:

  • Customer account reconciliation: Create and maintain detailed Excel workbooks reconciling customer balances, payments, deductions, returns, damages, credits, fees, and other adjustments. Research discrepancies, document findings, and coordinate resolution.
  • Accounts receivable: Process receivables, apply payments accurately, monitor aging balances, and follow up on outstanding amounts.
  • Accounts payable: Process vendor invoices, verify them against purchase orders and supporting documentation, and resolve discrepancies before payment processing.
  • General accounting: Prepare and post general journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate supporting records. Coordinate with the Accounting Manager for review and guidance when needed.
  • International business support: Reconcile transactions involving international customers and business partners, including foreign-currency payments and exchange-rate differences.
  • HR support: Assist the HR Director with recruiting, interview coordination, onboarding, employee review administration, benefits, and retirement plan administration. Maintain confidential employee records and coordinate with outside providers. Payroll processing is not part of the initial assignment.
  • Tax and company administration: Support tax preparation and R&D tax credit submissions by gathering, organizing, and reconciling supporting records. Assist with company registrations, renewals, and administrative deadlines.
  • Customer service and order processing: Provide backup coverage for customer inquiries, order entry, account questions, and follow-up. Coordinate with internal departments to resolve customer and order issues.
  • Process improvement and business support: Maintain organized records, improve administrative workflows, and handle additional responsibilities as business needs evolve.

We are looking for someone who values accuracy, takes initiative, and is comfortable moving between detailed accounting work and broader administrative responsibilities.

Requirements
  •  Relevant experience performing multiple accounting and administrative functions, preferably within a small or midsize company.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, and general journal entries.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and detailed reconciliation workbooks.
  • Ability to analyze transaction records and investigate discrepancies involving payments, deductions, returns, credits, and fees.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Word.
  • Experience with Sage accounting software preferred.
  • Experience with Paylocity or a comparable HR platform preferred.
  • Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefits, or retirement plan administration.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and recurring deadlines.
  • Professional communication skills and a willingness to provide customer service and order processing support.
  • Sound judgment, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to recognize when management guidance is needed.
  • Willingness to handle varied responsibilities and collaborate across a small-company team.

Experience with major retail or e-commerce account reconciliations, foreign-currency transactions, and documentation supporting R&D tax credits is helpful.
