Connected Logistics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs AI Pilot Teams. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead full-stack development across the system, owning software components and services from design through production deployment. You will drive integrations across systems, establish testing and quality practices, and mentor other engineers. 

The Senior Software Engineer will build the AI/ML-enabled functionality that powers the pilots, including the user experience and the application layer that surfaces model outputs, integrating with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar tools, and modernizing pilot applications onto a secure, cloud-native golden path.

This role has operated at the center of the program's delivery: standing up React/FastAPI applications, migrating legacy (Streamlit) pilots to modern React + VA Design System frontends, hardening CI/CD pipelines, and taking AI pilots from prototype to deployed, measured products in Azure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full-stack development (React/TypeScript front end, Python/FastAPI back end) across multiple concurrent AI pilots.
• Modernize and migrate pilot applications to production-grade architectures alignedwith the VA Design System (USWDS) and Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
• Build and maintain reusable CI/CD templates, containerization, and deployment workflows on Azure (AKS / Container Apps).
• Integrate application layers with AI/ML services and pipelines (Azure AI Foundry, LangChain/LangGraph, model inference and document-processing workflows).
• Own software quality: automated testing, code review, supply-chain/CVE remediation, and release management.
• Produce lightweight but useful system-design and automation documentation.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical direction within an Agile team.

• Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain VA T2 Public Trust clearance.
• BS degree with 10+ years of experience (or equivalent), including demonstrable technical leadership.
• Expert-level full-stack development: React/TypeScript and Python/FastAPI in production.
• Azure is a must, including containerized deployment (AKS and/or Container Apps).
• Experience with AI Foundry, LangChain, and LangGraph.
• Experience modernizing applications to a design system (VA Design System / USWDS a strong plus) and delivering to accessibility standards (Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Experience with the BrownMM DevSecOps toolchain is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-facing level of polish.
• Ability to produce lightweight but useful documentation of system design and automation mechanisms.

• 7+ years of experience across the following: 
  • Agile lifecycle based on Kanban, Scrum, SAFe, or other frameworks.
  • Automated software delivery in a CI/CD environment (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar).
  • Git-based version control (GitHub Enterprise a plus).
  • Relational databases and SQL, NoSQL datastores.
  • Automation of system backup and recovery, high availability, and zero-downtime approaches.
  • Federal application security practices including OWASP, Zero-trust principles, encryption at rest and in transit.
  • FISMA High security system controls and constraints.

• Experience with the following technology domains in a production system environment: 
  • One or more of: Kubernetes, Azure AI Framework
  • Terraform (or equivalent IaC, e.g. Pulumi)

Total Rewards Statement

is $140,000.00 to $150,000.00 USD. This is a good-faith range based on factors such as your experience, geographic location, and any applicable contractual requirements, and may vary slightly.
