The Service Parts Associate plays a central role in ensuring our customers, field technicians, and service partners receive accurate replacement parts and assemblies in a timely, damage-free manner. Combining hands-on warehouse tasks with basic technical component testing, order processing, and inventory logging, this position is responsible for picking, validating, testing, packaging, and receiving commercial oven parts while adhering strictly to quality, accuracy, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Order Processing & Fulfillment
- Order Validation & Processing: Print, process, prioritize, and validate incoming replacement part orders to ensure accurate and timely order execution.
- Order Preparation: Prepare picking packets and staging orders for parts processors and fulfillment team members.
- Packing & Protection: Inspect parts against order sheets, select appropriate carton sizes and protective packaging materials, and pack orders safely, paying special attention to fragile electrical or mechanical components.
- Shipping Execution: Safely operate shipping equipment (UPS shipping software/machines, scales, postage meters, and plastic banding machines) to prepare parcels for carrier pickup.
Component Testing & Kit Assembly
- Electrical & Technical Testing: Perform function and continuity testing on specialized electrical/mechanical components (such as motors, probes, and tube switches) using diagnostic tools including Ohm meters, Hi-Pot testers, and tube testers.
- Kitting & Tagging: Package hardware, wiring, instruction sheets, and sub-components into complete service assembly kits; tag finished assemblies with correct part numbers and return them to primary stock locations.
Receiving, Inventory & Returns
- Receiving Inspection: Inspect incoming part shipments for physical accuracy, quantities, and quality before logging items into inventory.
- Inventory & Cycle Counts: Assist with total inventory control by conducting routine cycle counts and maintaining accurate stock bin locations.
- Warranty & Excess Stock: Process and maintain records for warranty part returns, defective items, and excess stock returns according to established procedures.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Internal Coordination: Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with manufacturing, purchasing, and shipping teams to resolve material shortages and streamline fulfillment workflows.
- Process Improvement: Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency gains in daily parts handling, packaging, and shipping routines.
Qualifications & Essential Functions
- Technical & Diagnostic Skills: Ability to use basic electrical testing equipment (Ohm meter, Hi-Pot tester, tube tester) and operate hand and air-powered assembly tools.
- Literacy & Measurement: Basic math and literacy skills; ability to read travelers, shop order sheets, blueprints, and standard shop measurement tools accurately.
- Shipping & Systems Operations: Familiarity with shipping software (UPS machines, scales, postage meters) and basic computer data entry.
- Physical Demands: Physical ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, sit, and stand for extended periods on the shop floor.
- Teamwork & Flexibility: Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to working collaboratively in a team environment and assisting other departments as directed by management.
