POSITION SUMMARY
We seek substitute teachers in all subject areas, serving both our middle and upper schools, grades preschool-12th grade. We seek to find talented people who want to join us as student centered educators and role models who bring joy to our classrooms, fields, and offices, and work collaboratively with colleagues. Substitute teachers may be assigned a lead or supporting role in a classroom, depending on grade level, subject and student needs. Substitute teachers may be assigned a homeroom between grades preschool-5th grade in our lower school or a single 75 minute class period or more in our middle and upper school classes, up to four class periods in a school day. Substitute teachers must be in the building/on campus in order to do their job. The school day is 7:45am to 3:30pm. Substitute teachers may be engaged to cover full and/or partial school days. The role of the substitute teacher requires flexibility, collaboration and cooperation. We seek to hire qualified individuals with a deep respect for children and strong classroom management skills. Qualified candidates hold at least a bachelor’s degree and ideal candidates have relevant experience working with children. Substitute teachers may be scheduled ahead of time, or, if available, may be called on the day needed for last minute subbing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the lesson plan as directed by the teacher or department chair.
- Ensure the safety of students by providing appropriate supervision.
- Serve as a role model in maintaining appropriate standards of care for students and maintaining healthy boundaries in student and professional relationships.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Experience with teaching, coaching, and/or providing instruction, support and/or supervision.
- Undergraduate degree required, masters preferred.
- Teaching experience at the middle school or high school level preferred.
- The ideal candidate will be:
- a student-centered educator
- knowledgeable about adolescents’ physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development and willing to positively greet the challenges and opportunities they present
- a professional oral and written communicator
- eager to work collaboratively with colleagues
- comfortable using technology in the classroom setting
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work is conducted primarily in a school environment.
- May operate machinery such as keyboard and computer.
- May frequently lift and carry five to ten pounds.
- Occasionally stands/stoops.
- Must be able to traverse or remain primarily stationary.
