Description

What You’ll Do

  • Perform field testing, inspections, investigations, and assessments of buildings, structures, and construction materials.
  • Assist with construction observation and monitoring.
  • Examine existing buildings and structures and help document conditions that may require repair or improvement.
  • Investigate materials and building components, including concrete, steel, roofing, and building envelope systems.
  • Collect field measurements, photographs, sketches, and other project data.
  • Prepare clear and accurate field observation and inspection documentation.
  • Assist engineers and project leaders in developing drawings, details, sections, and construction documents using AutoCAD.
  • Translate field observations, measurements, redlines, and design direction into accurate and organized drawings.
  • Coordinate drawing revisions with project leaders and assist with coordination across engineering disciplines and outside consultants.
  • Maintain organized project drawings, records, and documentation.
  • Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional overnight travel.
Requirements

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is curious, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both an office and field environment. You should enjoy learning how buildings are constructed, investigating problems, and turning field information into accurate technical drawings.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or other two-year technical degree in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • At least one year of CAD drafting experience.
  • One to two years of construction, roofing, testing, inspection, or related field experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction practices, terminology, tools, materials, regulations, and codes.
  • Building envelope experience or knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam is a plus.

 Equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience will also be considered.
