Job Summary/Job Purpose:
The Documentation Specialist I will effectively interact with physician offices, patients and clients, insurance companies, federal and state agencies, and third-party intermediaries to collect and process the necessary paperwork in order for MedCare to correctly submit for payment. This includes processing prescriptions, letters and certificates of medical necessity, and other vital documentation.
Job Duties / Essential Functions:
- Collect appropriate documentation (CMN, PAR, Order, Prescription) required for compliant and timely billing of all purchased and rental equipment.
- Manage the CMN /PAR work list and follow-up with doctors when requested information is not received. Ensure compliance with established timelines.
- Verify CMN/ PAR is completed and accurately logged in accordance with third party payer/insurance regulations.
- Accurately document all accounts to ensure a thorough record of actions taken and dispositions made.
- Work with collection specialists on any accounts receivable problems.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Skills / Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year experience in similar medical billing role or business-related field.
- Medical terminology and coding prior experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office with proven data entry experience.
- Ability to communicate with the patient and all members of the health care team.
